Well if they don't even say that the police already got at least 2 of the guys responsible for taking the girl, but instead only criticise how bad the portuguese authorities are handling the case (which is not true) i think its fair to say that they are not handling it in the most proper way.

What exactly are you basing this opinion of our media on? Because I've not seen anything like what you're describing. The news has been extremely factual, and indeed detailed the suspects and how they'd been arrested as soon as it was announced.

But in the first days after she went missing all i saw coming from the UK was jornalists saying that our police wasn't doing anything since they didn't passed any information about the case to the press. What they didn't knew was that we have a law that doesn't allow anyone to talk about ongoing cases, specialy with the press. I also saw a news piece saying that Algarve was the number one destination in europe for pedophiles, and i seriouslly doubt that that is true. Basically they where trying to give a bad image of our country.

But i also saw a guy from skynews (i think) saying that the british media are used to having all the details of a investigation, that being the reason whey they where pissed of with the portuguese police, but that he fulled understood ou reasons for doing things this way. So i think it is probably like you say, only the tabloids that do this sort of stuff.

Anyway, I never actually said the girl was being stupid, nooba took it unto himself to mis-understand what I was syaing.

The parents of the poor girl (nobody deserves to be abducted and abused and murdered - sex slavery I doubt, probably too high profile by now) - but honestly if you are going to go out and leave your kid alone in an unlocked room (with no supervision etc) in a holiday resort surrounded by strangers; then your rights to complain and appear on TV looking shocked by the whole incident should be revoked. You don't leave your children alone, that split second you turn your back is when will happen.

I'm not saying the girl deserves this, no way at all. I don't think the parents are entirely blameless in this, I think they are irresponsible and are as much to blame for this as the sick pervert who abducted her. The paedo has a disease, but the parents should have known better - they neglected their child.

Who's to say if this hadn't happened, their neglectful behaviour wouldn't have resulted in some other horrific incident.
