I don't think I've posted in this thread yet, but I've been watching this come along and it's most awesome.

new blog update:
http://nimblebit.blogspot.com/2007/12/i ... color.html
got a color picker hooked up to the material system
-
that looks perfect. but you should be able to pick 2 different colors, 1 for body and 1 for pattern. other than that, gimme

btw. I keep clicking "ride elephant" and I still think it's funny
best webpage in history. -

Neat! What's with the black and white squares at the back of the kart? Is that a placeholder texture or is it meant to look like that?

intentional. there will be a multitude of skins.

the best part of that video is the muffler shaking about

hmm might wanna look at this game i just came across on a german game news site:
http://www.goa.com/#/kartncrazyhome/
looks pretty similar to what you got going..

ah thanks for the link! I had seen screenshots of this but I never heard it was actually out. It seems like a more visually polished Kart Rider clone, so free to play mmo style with people paying for accessories.
We are kind of leaning away from that model right now, and more towards the kind of game you would find on steam, with user-run servers that people join to race. The kind of persistence setup and management of users that goes into running an mmo sort of operation could easily be over our heads.
Also, at least in Kart Rider - both of us found the actual game play mechanics and item design to be very lacking. I am anxious to finish downloading this one to take some notes on it.

I must say i prefer your style, it's still cartoony but theirs is way too "Mario."
-
I'm kinda disappointed, I tried to play that game but when I tried to log in, it just leaves a blank screen. Maybe it's not actually running yet.
anyway, I did a few wheel variations just to have for testing wheel swapping. I also added some color to be user customizable. (in this case it's set to a yellow color)

I think next I'm going to try mocking up some html for what some parts of the UI might look like.

i demand progress ya damn slacker

these new forum buttons confuse me
anyway, I decided to pick up WoW again, so as a result I am putting the project on hold for the foreseeable future . . .
just kidding! I have been busting my balls becoming a css guru in order to code up our gui's. I have almost finished a tabbed menu for browsing and choosing different karts / hats / wheels / etc. I just have to finish polishing it up and then I will post a working version, which will work the same way in the engine as it does in your browser which is cool.
Also, for some reason when I first tried posting a reply it sent me back to my first post . . . haha I'm kind of embarrassed of the images I first posted to start this whole project
