To elaborate:
NO GRENADES.
-
I'm glad they have had the balls to make some big changes. I think everyone was worried that it was going to be TFC + new graphics, but it's looking like a real departure from TFC.
koko: FF is in the perpetual stage of being 'nearly done'. It's unrecognisable compared to the mod you worked on (in a good way!) so have faith. I finish my degree on the 18th and then I'm going all out to finish FF, even if it means living a hermit-like existence

-
and then TF2 will be released and nobody will play FF

We'll see

no conc's = not good..
you can see some of the levels in this vid: http://www.gamevideos.com/video/id/11420

No grenades? Seems like an extremely strange decision, as the conc jumping was one of the more infamous aspects of TFC. Have we got proper clarification on this?
Rocket jumping is still in though at least.

-
rocket jumping forever! something about the gameplay in TFC, CS and DoD pre-source just makes me smile with memories...such as the old rocket jumping and so many other awesome awesomonities.
-
Stop Izuno, you're gonna make us all feel like old farts
I simply can't wait for this game and predict there will be a hord of CSS/DODS players moving on to it. -
Mmmm really looking forward to this one (along with everything else that comes in the package
). I like TF, but I think its great they're changing stuff if they feel its going to make it better. Go play the old TF if thats what you want
Pffft grenades..../me hides

I'm quietly hoping they'll somehow retain conc jumping, even if not specifically with a conc grenade. The general concept of bounding around as a medic using skill was really cool and what basically made the class so loved by many people (infection was nice but not really that commonly used, mainly by new players).
That said, I'm sure Valve have spent more than enough time making TF2 a balanced and unique iteration in the Team Fortress line, and thus to expect TFC with different graphics is madness (the Spy being able to fully cloak like Solid Snake is an obvious example here
).But yeah, TF2. Man. I really hope it is awesome and gets extremely popular like TFC did, as I've missed TF more than pretty much any series ever (I played it way too much to death to enjoy TFC anymore). The likes of CS:S are so uninspiring it really saddens me it's the only HL2 mod with a significant fanbase, with the exception of DOD:S which has like under a seventh of the players.

TF2 looks like good fun, I don't think I'll miss the grenades

-
TFC was pretty fun back then, at least when playing engineer on Casbah. TF2 definatly also looks to be an a lot of fun.
-
i am really looking forward to this game
the art style is really great for this type of game. i only have good memories of TFC

anyone seen the new heavy guy video from pc games hardware yet?

Anyone who played TFC back in the day, not CS, endorse the removal of grenades? Sure, Dustbowl was a grenade fest , the scout was kind of neglected (but no where near as much as the pyro). But remove them? It's like CS:S coming with no automatic weapons to reduce the pray and spray.
I thought originally they were just removing Frags, but if there's no concs, nail, mirvs or emp's I just don't see it being as fun. Of course I have a biased POV because I spent an awful lot of time on TFC just playing conc, pipe and rocket jump maps, but so did a lot of other people. I really hope they're still there as a server command or something.
