they do that so you can see all the low res screen space bloom effects and DMAP-selfshadow artifacts also to clarify that they are staged bull shots ^^

none the less i am pretty sure that all the assets are the real deal though

i apologize for being a bit in FLAME MODE here i think screen shots this large are ridicules but i am totally waiting for this game to ship and i will buy it on release day.

Clearly far too excessive for any of today's hardware, but providing them in such huge size and quality isn't really a bad thing. They're ideal for design use and in magazines as you can just use certain parts of them, cut them out for an article, etc. Also when printed such huge resolution will bring with it great clarity.

I doubt you'll hear any complaints about such sizes from people who actually work with these screenshots.

In response to the bloom effects being low res, I dont think you'd notice at the speed unreal plays at.

I don't think it's inherently compatible with AA right now for technical reasons (afaik they're using some rendering techniques that don't play nice with AA on current gen hardware)

Why not? Should they release them at 512x384?

I was curious if any company sold 6500x3700 monitors, dissapointed that a google search says no

The screenshots are phenominal, but I'll believe it when I see it on my computer. Gears looks fantastic though for what its worth, I still think its glorious.

Its the same technique that Doom 3 uses. You never actually run the game at that resolution, you only take screenshots at that resolution.

i was being sarcastic and for some reason i think UT3 can handle AA, else it will be the same thing as with GRAW.. i hate tat game for not handling AA.

Looks like the last 2 screenshots have AA.

I wasn't even expecting it this year, wow. Is it going to console too, cos I don't see many people's rigs being able to play that (looking remotely like that)?

    Yeah, both PS3 and 360.

Yeah, PS3 as far as I'm aware. Not sure about the 360.

Since high-end PCs at the moment can easily hit 360/PS3 standards I don't think there'll be any problems with PCs running it, and it's likely to look better on PC too.

    Edit: :( :( Reno
