Pretty good review from Eurogamer. 8/10 but it's only dropped points because of the bugs. Gonna be queueing at Game on Oxford street for this on Friday morning (and laughing at all the folks freezing their butts off waiting on PS3s)

2.5/5.Already uninstalled...What a let down. I waited HOW many years for this game?

I dont like getting two sided opinions. Makes me doubt. But positive reply's dominates.

Judgement passed and game uninstalled before the game is even in the stores. That's the internet, folks.

i just played a little more, and the further you get in, the better it gets

the AI is actually pretty good sometimes (they will try to counter/flank you, that sort of stuff.

    you must eat/counter radition/energy/stop bleeding/heal yourself

also there are some puzzles (not really mind bubling, but still some puzzles)

but, a tip, try putting the graphics to bare minimal, and build up from there, because on max, you need atleast 2 gigs of ram.

i am using static lightning + the rest full, and it looks pretty good

overall, there are still crashes, and sometimes pathfinding bugs (only had the twice).

    From Gamespot's review:

This first-person survival game is at times amazing and engrossing and on par with such classics as Deus Ex and System Shock.

Rating STALKER as high as two of the best games ever created means 'it's a bit good'.

If there's bugs and stuff, I'll wait till the patches come out and then buy it, since I'm in no rush and I've got other games I've not played too. Hell I waited 6 years for it, 6 more weeks/months isn't going to harm

don't know why I don't like that game. I played it and there is no "that-cool-thing-which-makes-me-play-all-night". good for stealing free time, some new ideas with inventory (btw. layout and UI sux) etc.

    nothing special to me

sure was worth the wait for me (specially since i was never hyped up about the game ) it starts off alitle "easy" but assoon as you reach the buildings etc it starts getting really good, the decay, feeling of being in "the zone" is well captured. i find myself stopping often to look at the scenery, buildings etc. i love the "wild" life. the underground/lab sections are just plain freaky! up to par with fear. i was constantly jumpy, hugging the wall so the freaks wouldnt sneak up behind me.

    pro's

-lots of weapons, rpg aproch to inventory is nice

-sounds are good though sometimes alitle issues with zone's

-sandbox aproch with multiple side quests

-awsome setting, comon! radio active wastelands. and countless buildings, factories to explore

    con's

    - weapons are very inaccurate, as enemies armor gets heavyer it gets really anoying sometimes to gun them down.

-some visual bugs here and there that are alitle to big to not have been fixed, enemy patrols poping up in your face, shadows of enemies around corners going through the wall, there goes the suprise and a bunch more ( although i still wont say the game is buggy havent had a single ctd)

-at first almost everyone is carrying food, as the game progress noone ever seems to carry it, making you run out of stamina faster.. but ofcourse the mission areas expand so you'll often find yourself "to exhausted to walk" trying to return something to complete the job.

all in all thumps up for the dev's, nice game i sure am enjoying it.

haven't gotten to play it...was supposed to be at THQ this friday for some consulting work but got pushed back to April so I'll get my copy then. (they owe me  )

But from everything I've heard from...all sources...is that the game is still a bit buggy but the base level concept is very solid and they actually pulled off much of the original gameplay. Very happy to see that.

Once I get my hands on it I will of course have more to say...but if anything at least it didn't turn out to be dog like so many games that take 5+ years to develop.

after doing some side-quest here in there, i continued with the main "quest". The first underground psyche experience is really.. psyche, freaking high pitched sound, with your screen going (really) weird.. i got headache of my own (as did Marked One..) allthough the beast didn't stand any chance against my fast-AK47..

It's poor and it shouldn't be, but it's kind of expected for a game with this kind of scope to have a patch a few weeks after release to fix blatant bugs, so I don't think that really counts as a major issue.

Unfortunately my graphics card has melted and I'm not buying games until it's replaced because it'll torment me, but I will check it out at some point. And needless to say I will buy it, even if some random guy on the Internet didn't like it.

Anyone figured out how to open the db files? Would like to mod a few things. While the Level Design and Environments are awesome a lot of the rest could use more work. Playermodels, monsters, weapons and animations dont look like 6 years of development imo.

A thing that prevents me yet from playing more is the extreme shacking of the first person view. I get a headache from that. Never experienced that in other games before. Guess that has to be fixed before i can find out if i like the game or not.

Anyone played this on a GF4 Ti 4200? I'm trying to sort myself out with a new card from a friend but I'm not sure when I'll get it.

I think that's a generation below min spec Deads

I took a walk down Oxford Street this lunchhour (Big shopping street in central London for those who don't know) and popped into Game HMV and Virgin. THere were three copies of Stalker left to preorder in Game and the other two stores had completely sold out. Madness. Reckon it's going to outsell the PS3
