No surprises for the top spot, but Wolf3D over System shock 1/2 ? Fuck off!

I find it pretty surprising, but then I never got why it was so highly rated

Fun to see Golden Eye on that list, I actually think it's the best FPS that has ever been made.

I think Goldeneye should be #1

And I think Rainbow Six and Operation Flashpoint should be on the list

Rainbow 6 yeah, but it's not really FPS considering that you got no gun, only a crosshair.

But they are some damn fine games.

    Bloody love GoldenEye...

I like Halo, but I'm glad it's [deservedly] not on there.

I liked goldeneye too. But I dont think its that great. Not enough to be on the list really. I still remember how the splitscreen made my eyes water.

I think it deserves to be on the list because it was really the first successful transition of the FPS genre onto consoles, which is a pretty remarkable achievement and IMO, fits in nicely with the point of the article (the games that moved on the genre). Halo, in a sense, did the same thing for the genre by kickstarting the successful inclusion of vehicles (yes I know it wasn't the first, but it WAS a huge catalyst in their mainstream inclusion). That said, I think that most of the games on that list are far more deserving of their place than Halo would be. Might have been nice to have seen a pioneer or landmark Tactical FPS on there like Rainbow Six though.

i never agree with these lists, eventhough this one comes pretty close to how i would do it. Where the hell is duke nukem 3d??

They mentioned duke nukem 3d a couple of times in the comments but usually went for wolfenstein 3d or doom or the like.

No, if you ever played the first R6 games (not the shit games from UBI (sorry klein )), then you know what I'm talking about. If it's more like that I don't count it as a FPS, is that you can play the game as and RTS aswell really, you just need planning skills.

(yes there are weapons, but you don't see them in 1st person)
