It was a mod at first, but it became a real game.

Why do you want to prune it?

By pruning it I meant the 38 pages of replies. To look neat is as good an answer as I've got though.

what about a list of available freelancers?

I just think that this list is becoming unmanageable fast. This just isn't the right format for listing everything everyone wants. There is LinkedIn for the details, but as far as presenting the available freelancers and those in the industry, the best format to this day remains a spotlight gallery of sort. I'm not talking about the one we had for maps and other assets, but a directory of Mapcorians with their relevant info is ultimately what we should have. I'd love to have a full blown list with everyone and their favorite dog on the forums but in pure editing and presentation terms, this isn't exactly fitting.

maybe we can post a list of freelancers in the recruitment forum.... if people PM one of us mods thats something we could look into

I agree that these 36 pages are a bit unneccy, but if you do prune them, I would keep the thread open to new replies, and just strips those replies off every now and then.

Its nice to have a chat with people who just got a new job, if it were to become a very static list no one would notice any chances, and you wouldnt feel very involved.

Why not have a profile option and instead of the list a small page that reads all the infos and displays them. You'd need to check your details every two month otherwise they will be displayed in grey (outdated) and after half a year of not checking they would disappear from the list. It's not that a big deal to have an email send "Hey pls check out your given infos as you last updated them 2 months ago".

    Profile options:

    Christian- and Surename

You are: a) Professional in a Studio b) Professional for Freelance availble onsite c) Professional for Freelance availble offsite d) University e) apprenticeship f) Internship (multiple answers possible (e.g. Freelance on and off site or Pro at Ubi-Campus or Apprenticeship at Raven)

Then you could pick from a list of occupations like Enviroment Artist, 2D-Artist, 3D-Artist and so on

Text Box for a short summary which will display then you hover over the name

Studio (If your studio is not in the list yet PM a Mod to add it to the list or maybe one could add that himself)

would be awesome if the system automatically tracks a history and would link to this thread so we continue to talk about the current happenings (as Hourences pointed out)

I hear that guys, of course the thread would remain open to posting, I'm not suggesting closing it and having people submit PMs or what have you.

I think personally that adding too much information is defeating the point of the thread itself which is to give a quick overview on who is working in the industry and where... I even find the "past employment" section to be kind of unnecessary. It's just meant to be a list. Easy to access. Easy to view. I don't mind the 39 pages of discussion because everyone knows the list is on page 1 and is being updated as people post their career updates.

I'd agree with that, although I do like the history section. It can be useful if you think you remember someone working somewhere, or know someone from MapCore once worked there, but can't remember either who or where.

The history section is gone. I had thought about that Thrik, but in all honesty this is nothing LinkedIn couldn't tell you, so long as you know that person's real name, which usually is documented in the list.

Most useful thing to add would be a link to the user's profile by clicking on the name in the list. It doesn't take anything from the readability and any additional information we want can be stored in the profile. My 2 cents.

    My 2 cents:

    - I don't like a thread with way too much information which will rarely get updated anyway. Better keep it clean, lean and up to date:)

    - I think it's totally fine with this long thread. It's not like that I am forced to read through all pages or anything:)

I want a disclosed section for people who are in the industry, but were asked not to flaunt it on websites

A private forum only for those who are in the industry?

Might divide things up too much tho, but could be nice.
