Hello. Been a while since I posted in here. Last thing I posted was probably something about my horribly oversized map which was called ns_calamus. I put that project on top of the shelf and quit pc stuff for over a year. But suddenly a few weeks ago, I kind of changed my mind, and I decided to rebuilt the whole ns_calamus project into a combat map. And so have I done.

It reached beta 1 today and I'm releasing the version to the public.

    Backstory:

Calamus is a postal facility handling military cargo and packages only. The facility's number of employees is around 100 people

On the 11th of February 2163, a Kharaa threat was detected in the Cargo Processing area of the facility. At this time the facility was in the possesion of multiple packages containing pieces of a prototype for a new military weapon. As a result of the threat, all personel were evaquated and the facility was closed down with all blast doors in effect.

There were attempts of gassing the whole facility to eliminate the Kharaa threat, but the gas did not have any effect.

On the 5th of March 2163, the TSA were connected to the case.

It is necessary to eliminate the Kharaa threat to be able to obtain all part of

the prototype for the new military weapon. The parts are most likely spread out around the different cargo areas of the facility.

    Overview(note, some parts are level-over-level):

I'm with EjrulF. Also, the green light spots look bad. (except in this shot http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/9199 ... ry2oy7.jpg). Anyways, keep it up. The layout looks good.

    Quote from MJ

    people still play ns?

It's the most played HL1 mod after Valve's "mods" like DoD and CS.

Thanks for the little feedback I've got here.

First of all, yes it probably looks like any other ns/co map and probably needs new textures. But I will not retexture the whole map, because I have edited one of the texture sets to be kind of "my own", so no one else has exactly(!!) these textures.

I don't know if the layout will work, but I hope so. I'm hoping to get a playtest very soon to check if the gameplay works out as I have hoped.

    For the last two comments:

    Thanks for staying "ON" topic..

It looks like in some areas you couldn't decide wether you wanted it to be lit with a green, a yellow, a red or a blue color scheme. Not that multiple colors is a bad thing but I don't think these work well together. Then again it might just be a goldsource thing.

Other than that it looks like a good NS map.

Yeah I see it now when you say it. There's specially one place that I'm gonna fix that. The red is going away. Throughout all the map where I've used the red spotlight.

Thanks for taking off my blindfold!
