Rather than crowd up the other thread I thought I'd make a new one.

I've just got done with it now, again the following contains spoilers:

First of all whoever said it takes 6 hours to complete is a dumbass, it's taken me about 18 hours to get through! The game was is a bit dull at the start after you've been picked up from the Roadhouse, but it got better and is really fun later on and while the new gameplay features are just clever gimics, they work very well with the narrative. I especially liked it when you had to hit a switch to lower a lift get on top of it and use spirit walk to cross over a chasm and produce a new portal to teleport back to the switch, simple but cool.

I found it a bit lame how if you used spirit walk sometimes, panels in the wall appeared so you could get to supplies, it would of looked better as a hole in the wall with some of that blue stuff around it. The weapons were good, it didn't bother me that there were only 7 weapons because they were all interesting enough as they were and you never really missed any others (well maybe a rocket launcher ). Enemies were ok, I especially liked some of the later floating things and the guys that looked a bit like the fat zombies from Doom 3, I liked to whack the mutated humans and run away a lot, they're always confused when you do that

The bosses were pretty damn good, I loved the first boss fight, the way you cut his arm off and got the gun was nice and inovative, the other ones such as 'JenX' were good too, it took me ages to figure out that I had to destroy those purple things though! Speaking of bosses, I liked the way they produced this character of 'The Keeper' and then later on you find out that even though you destroyed him, there was more than one and you would never have seen it coming. Vehicles were nothing special, but it was always fun to fly about shooting robots.

All in all excellent game with a pretty satisfying ending after all the carnage for once (although I don't understand why the bar appeared in the sphere about a quarter of the way into the game and then it's back untouched... eh?). It's not going to win any prizes for originality and it certainly doesn't redefine shooters but it was damn good while it lasted.

I give it a solid 8, about the same as Quake 4.

PS: Right at the end, there's 'Prey will continue', perhaps we'll see a mission pack? ...or maybe a sequel...

PPS: Needed more ghost children imho too!

Thx for the dumbass...and if it had taken me 18 hours, I probably wouldn't have bothered.

Pretty boring generic game, the fresh stuff it has going in the beginning (Lots of portals, tiny planet, gravity plates) is over way too quickly and then it just start being dull shooting, and all of Prey's weapons and enemies are completely shite.

Only plus I can find is that its got some easy achievement points, and it actually tends to look quite good. Took me around 8 hours to get through, pretty much went through the entire game in one day (2 sittings actually). I have no idea how you could've spend 18 hours on it, but I tend to play these generic singleplayer shooters like I play MP DM with jumping around

Oh yeah those parts where you flew around in that space craft were so horrible I couldnt believe what was happening. Was really relieved everytime I got past those sections .

Still, nothing better for the 360 atm :sigh:

    Summed up nicely right there.

I've probably got thew playtime wrong, I mean with it being so hot here I had to keep giving the computer a rest 'cause it kept beeping most likely due to overheating, mostly two hour sittings and then a rest. Perhaps 14 hours is more like it...

I thought it was fun becuase yeah it might be another generic shooter, but no way in hell was it dull. It was so much better than Doom 3 and Doom 3 was a huge hit . Plus its another classic shooter experience, running around killing new monsters and exploring new cool environments.

The only real thing that made me go "Whoa!" was the portal-system, as in one map you go through a tunnel, pickup the rocketlauncher (or whatever it is), turn around and go to the right of the tunnel and notice the arched tunnel on the right goes through the tunnel you came from, making it a wierd illusion.

i torrented the game yesterday and played it when it finished this morning and i just now finished it . i liked it for the most parts but i kinda didn't like soemthings like the flying around and the flying robots those really pissed me off.

all in all i don't think it was a bad game . lots and lots of details and great textures and such. even tho i found quite many textures not aligned properly which kinda took away the "illusion " there was lots of great architecture and stuff that i would have never been able to think of. The sprites and special effects were very refreshing . ill definitly be down loading the next one also

Avast! (There isnt a emot that looks like a pirate, so I'm forced to use the next best thing )

Pretty much agree with Mazy, but I think I'm having more fun playing it than he did.

I thought it was a good solid game, I like the oldschool flavor with a couple twists of lemon. Spent about 10 hours on it I guess. Better than a lot of high profile games that get pushed out the door. I did enjoy the flight levels, I appreciate a flight vehicle that just does what I want it to do and goes where I tell it to. Felt better than navigating in maya ;P

oh yeah and ROCK ON Art Bell

Hey now, just because I said I didn't say there was anything wrong with it, doesnt mean there isn't anything wrong with it...

I need to stop before I confuse myself.

    SPOILER

    ----------

Back on topic: Finished the game. Best use of Doom 3 tech by far. The amout of detail put into each level and the scripted sequences (near the end when Mother controls your path and forms the hallways right in front of you, man that was so cool). Visually stunning. Gameplay was straightforward, there were a few places where I got stuck (most of the time it was fogetting completely about spirit walk).

The story was good. Nothing special in terms of wow twists, but decent.

    -----------

    /SPOILER

I'll definitly pick up the next one.
