Nice tips klein. There are some things that concern me about the games industry though:

    - Crunch times. You said whatever they tell you it's not worth it. How can you avoid it then ? Working your ass off to get your shit done asap ?

    - Uninspired days. What do you guys do when you don't feel like working on anything ? I mean, my stuff usually suck when I don't feel like doing it.

    - 87% men and 13% women ??

    1) a company cant fire you for not crunching.... of course you should work as efficiently as possible but often a company only gives unrealistically tight deadlines (which they know are impossible to make) to push people to their very limits.

I have heard of projects were marriages collapsed and people's health went down the shitter. You don't wanna go down that road. But once again it is a problem with the industry as a whole, not with one workplace in particular

    2) It happens sometimes but it can't happen too often or you should be looking for a different field of work.

    3) yep a lot of them work in HR hehe

Yeah I'd guess my main con is that I have some days where I don't feel like doing nothing, but I guess thats what flexible worktimes are for

Not really. Flexible time doesnt mean you can sit around and do nothing...or come in at 2 PM.... Especially not when you're in production.

I kinda knew that, but so that you wouldn't have to "push" yourself to work 9 to 5 when you could use atleast some of that time to refresh and gain new motivation.

What you do during these hours is a different story but doesn't have to do anything with flexible working time.

Very nice presentation Klein, I'm sure you gave everyone in Savannah a good idea about how to break in and what it's like to work at UbiSoft......and how to apply for a job there

I just have to give my 2 cents about flex time.

As i am old i have encounter it a lot.

For me it is if you work hard and fast one day so you maybe did some of yesterdays work aswell you can go home earlier next day whithout any one saying something about it.

    Because you have flex time.

Thats what flextime is for me.

    One of the things anyway.

And i'm going to dl that pres when i get a line at home.
