When I try to converty my targas, vtex gives me an error saying "Problem figuring out outputdir for C:/documents and settings/Horsey/Desktop/textures.tga"
What can I do to fix this?

Scroll down a bit, there's an app called VTF Tool. I found it's easier than using the bare-bones SDK files.

It's possibly something to do with it trying to put the file in a directory that doesn't exist. If I try to do that with several other valve tools it will usually error or crash. Can't say for sure, just something for you to rule out.
