    Hello everyone, I'm new here.

This is a map I'm making for a mod called Wanted: Outlaws&Lawmen.

It's called Presidio because is based on some old constructions made by spanish (like me ) in california and arizona. It's a mix of fort and mission.

Current progress is above 50-60%, I'm modeling most of the props.

What sort of freakish cave is that with utterly smooth rocks?

Looks like an excellent start though, should be good once you've layered on some more detail and gotten those props done.

Maybe a fountain or well in the square?

    Town is looking nice

With some neat details it can be really cool.

I'm not a fan of the very soft "rocks" tho. Would love to see more edgy stuff.

Yeah, the terrain needs to be roughed up a little. The town is good though, I like the central tower/dome.

    fuckin awesome

Not very detailed but luv the skybox. The map reminds me of a map i played before but i cant remember what game it was for. Hidden & Dangerous 2?

Looks great for a start. Reminds me of the singleplayer version of Villa of the first perfect dark.

    Thx for the comments.

Caves and exterior rocks should be less round, I'm in the middle of morphing process. Also note that rocks are some kind of limestone, so final result shouldn't have too many edges, and there is a mesh resolution limitation too.

3dskybox should use a hand painted texture, I'm not good painting even a wall, but I'll try to do my best. Need more resolution also, but the next stop is 2048 (it uses a normal map too), and thats for every half, because mountains are split in two models.

If any curious, this is the original place: Buell Park in Arizona, an old crater that I found watching aerial pics.

Yes, normal map is not very visible in the shots I showed, I'm making another map where effect is near what it should, depends mostly on sun incidence. Anyway, model shadows are improved with normal map, and using HDR (I tested it) normal map is much more perceptible, so I'll keep.

Your hills are way too smooth and barren compared to the rest. Work on that. Town is coming along nicely.

Looking cool although it's pretty wide open and often feels empty. Really glad to see some spanish/southwest style architecture, it's something I've felt lacking in maps for a long time. The genuine landforms are really cool, are you using USGS data?

I love the terrain you got there, never seen that in a game before.

Yes, it's a USGS digital elevation model.

This is looking very promising! I'm not impressed with that bridge, needs more detail methinks..

Thx a lot for the frontpage

About the bridge, I agree, is a temporary solution. I'd like to model one or two wood planks because is cheaper for the engine than using solids, and should be more detailed and realistic. Some vertical pieces are needed too. Most of detail wood items in buildings need to be modeled, because they are simple brushes now.

Here is a close view with some vegetation sprites, including a custom real desertic plant. Rock wall needs more work, I know.

As mentioned, the town area looks cool, obviously some more details here in the form of props and such would be welcome. Also that church looks pretty weak although those 2 windows on the first shot work really well, that last one has way too much darkness to work really well. Maybe having a bigger window there to spread some light over the area. Btw, love the skybox, really great use of a 3d skybox, makes it feel like you're in a village in the middle of nowhere (at least it looks like that from the pictures ;D)

Just some ideas, certainly looks like it has some potential. Keep it up
