well, there's been whispers of it forever. I'd hold off getting too eager until hearing from a more reputable source, heh.

When they make the texture window stop stealing focus and make it easier to save custom window positions, I might doodle in it some more.

Oh, but there's still no wireframe models in the grid views, boo!

Yes there is, and displacements are shown properly too - that's one of the nicest (and most bloody necessary) updates

Some guy on the snarkpit apparently heard word of it from Adrian Finol who is a programmer at Valve. I can't really confirm anything and I didn't notice anything about it in the current beta, but as I said, there are whispers

I bellive some VALVe employee said in an interview that the feature will be added.

EDIT: Never mind this post, Pericolos0 has already mentioned it

    Sorry

It seems to perform a lot better. The 2D views arn't all chobby when you scroll with lots of geometry. That alone is worth it.

Though I do wish terrain was visible from a distance. It only appears when close or when it's selected.

There's a new button at the top right that toggels this on/off. It was set by default for me when I loaded it up.

Anybody know how to compile with HDR in the batch compiler?

It's certainly smart, but forget all these new features. I love it simply because before my map was dense enough to make 2d navigation a stuttering chore. Now, with the same map, it's absolutely silky smooth.

Honestly, previewable lighting, and we're golden.

models in 2d views is amazing for clipping stuff, i wasted so much time in the past doing it by eye in the 3d views

geez, not that I really use Source, but it's good to finally see Hammer catching up with just about every other editor out there.

Well I had been standing in a dark corner, recharging my "HDR Vision"-goggles. You have to be fast on the screenshot-key to capture the most HDR goodness
