LCDs CRTs and LSD!

There's no doubt about it; a good TFT pisses all over a CRT's image quality in pretty much every way. Those who say otherwise either haven't used a genuinely good TFT, or are simply blinded due to their CRT frazzling their visual senses with cathode rays.

    They're just so damned expensive.

I bought an NEC 17" LCD about a month ago, and I couldn't be happier. Goes up to 1280x1024 and it's super crisp. Plus, I've gotten a lot less headaches that I used to get from staring at my CRT.

And you really can't put a premium on desktop space.

The image quality of my Samsung TFT is way more crisp and stunning then any CRT monitor I've worked with, but the contrast and colors seem

to be less accurate then CRT monitors -- in general -- so I'm using both monitors to compare my work.

I'm buying a hardware monitor-calibration-set and I hope it solves some issues regarding color accuracy and frustrations after checking my work on a CRT

Well if you are doing pro graphics design work on your monitor, calibration is a must no matter which type monitor you use.

Colorproofing some photographs on non calibrated monitor is like pissing in dark, you might hit once or twice, but most of the time you are just making a mess.

Obviously, but my point is that there's today still a difference with a calibrated lcd and a calibrated crt. It's kinda like comparing a vinyl with a cd.

I hate CRTs, I don't have room or the...energy to move them (move PC between home and Uni a fair bit)

Anyway. I have 2 19" Relisys DVI monitors setup on horizontal span.

Its a dream, great for Hammer, Max, Photoshop I love it. So much more room!

Both running at 75Hz, no problem what so ever with gaming Howvever I play with only 1 for games. I can do it for 2, but then its trippy

Nice one Gaz, maybe I should get a setup like that too.

My screen is a 17" Samsung SyncMaster 753DFX which I have been really satifised with. Back when I bought it LCD was not an option as they were too expensive and the quality was still not that good.

LCDs have however improved a lot both in quality and price so I guess my next screen is going to be a 19" LCD. I am not going to buy a new one anytime soon though as my current monitor is fine:)
