thought id create my own topic instead of flooding the wip in wip post your screenshots one

its a castle/temple based map using textures from the former graal3d project. textures all created by blazeeer except for the wood wich comes from hl2 (dont know if ill change those)

just some minor changes (to the new section the old one is still as it was)

changed the lighting a little, added a border texture, some more brickwork and added some more wood.

    C&C please

    I like it

The torches would look alot better with a model-replacement though.

yes, nice... but you really some more variation: varied lighting, some more wood, different details, varied architecture elements etc... then it will really be A+

but its looking good so far.. so just keeping adding to it

it would be neat if there were steel chains and shields on the wall and stuff like that with some nice rust etc

hehe yes i know thats because it are 2 seperate maps right now still have to stitch them together

also in reply to Bic-B@ll yes it really needs some models/props allready thought about adding chains but im still looking for a nice way to add them to the map so that they have some sort of use.

Aside from the repetition it's looking very nice, and I'm not usually a fan of castles. A small outside area with some grass etc. could be cool and would help put some more colours in.

Sexy pics ya got there matey. I like the atmosphere, allthough it really reminds me of ehm... Unreal, ''Tournament, ''03, ''04.

Anyhow, it looks like a winner to me.

    edit: architecture is 1337!

It really has style, that castle of yours.

And indeed, the large blocks get kinda repetetive and I think the map is a bit too dark overall. Besides that, it does look good indeed.

Oh, and for a 3D skybox... can I see high mountain peeks on the horizon with tall, gloomy castles on them with lots of high towers?

DAMN RIGHT! now if only instagib:source had lowgrav and a gamespeed compared to 135% in ut2k4.

reply yo phatsniper: im working on that right now its going to be some sort of courtyard (or however you call that) wich will have some sort of waterpit that you can jump in to reach a small tunnel that reaches to the little water stream that you can see in one of the pics

everobody tnx for the great comments. i will keep working to make it less repetitive by adding more varied architecture and adding more different textures however i do want to keep as close to this atmosphere as possible so thats going to be pretty difficult but i allready have some cool ideas in mind wich i have to try out to see how it works for the map. anyway any cool ideas are welcome:)

time for a small update again. changed a lot of the geometry from the first hall. texturing stil needs some work, door texture is still a 256x256 one wich has to be replaced, havent yet improved the lighting wich like has been said needs more variation/colors. also i have decided to lose tha graal-castle name and change it to dm_grale because i think it sound a lot better...

    C&C please.

Make a decal that covers some of the bricks, but instead of just covering them, the decal is made UP of bricks, but whole. If that makes sense. THan have some kidn of engraving or something decorative to put in those walls.

So extract a bunch of bricks. Make it one solid brick. Make that one solid brick a decorative element. Make it a decal. Apply it OVER the bricks. Voila!

Something to break up your repetition.

Looking nice, I like the lightning.

It's a DM map, and in DM (most) people want wider corridors, nothing in the environment should feel too small to be able to strife and jump to avoid enemy fire.

The corridor to the right in the second screen and the area in the last pic from the newest batch look a little too small,

A lot of levels are brought down by this, because people tend to make stuff smaller then it should be, to actually be fun in DM, and this is a temple, you have all the logic rights to put on some size on those types of places.

    Looking good once again!
