Hate to say it but the environment stuff is straying a bit for my tastes and there's a lot of fucking colors being thrown around. Also wtf at climbing and swinging on polls. But they got a soldier enemy with a crew cut back so that kinda makes up for it.

Some technical details from Marty himself for DigitalFoundry. Highlight: the maps are much bigger than 2016.

They most certainly had to hold back on a few things because the CPUs in consoles aren't much great and they are still having to deal with HDD loading times. If it were exclusively next gen the game would probably have much larger scales.

They've mastered organic levels. The "inside a monster" feeling is so real that you never notice anything missplaced, oddly placed or that doesn't feel natural. Even when you zoom in the surfaces look so high res and high poly, as if you could touch it and feel the roughness of it. They are going to win "best graphics" for this. Compare doom eternal to that Elemental techdemo from years ago.

Yeah saw that, but I think the problem is really the company’s choices

Blaming the "company" is a bit simplistic in these situations. Every big company works in different ways of course, but more often than not when "PR disasters" like this happen, it's usually the fuck up of one or two people. The game directors and the people making the game very rarely have any input on trailers or teasers, because they're too busy actually making the game.

So what usually happens is, you have a very small team of people in charge of synchronizing with a third party vendor, actually making these trailers. These people, they don't really care about the same things we do, or that gamers do, they don't do "artistic choices", they do market research and analysis, they're aware of current trends that work and jump on those bandwagons. Their job is to market a product at all costs.

Biggest irony ever, is that when you go against the grain and make something different, it almost always works! Which is what they thought they were doing in this spot, but they ended up looking out of touch.

Remember this? This is what I'm talking about.
