Kingdom of Heaven

people have different opinions, he doesn't like ridley scott. I am not saying stop going back and forth, you can, as long as you keep it civilized.

But the movie here is for Kingdom of Heaven. And while listening to its soundtrack at the moment, I must say it kicks ass. I am enjoying it better than Harry Gregson-williams previous work, though Man on Fire is rather awesome. In terms of emotion and movement, this score has more than Gladiator I believe. There is just so much, while Gladiator score has only the First battle and the Barbarian Arena Battle. Sucks that only me and mikey will probably have a dicussion about it.

being a soundtrack nut (scores really, I don't give a flying crap for soundtracks that have the latest bands on them doing their shit music for a movie, unless its music like Blade or such) and just having finished the score, I think it ranks up there. Nothing can really top The Battle and Barbarian Horde, but a lot of the elements in this score just keep going strong.

The movie was a little weak, but that soundtrack is one of my favorites. Probably might favorite score of all time.

I think village wasn't a bad movie becaues they didn't speak normal english, it was just bad by definition that it sucked ass and it wasn't even scary, just like Signs.

But back to KOH and Diddlery Scotty, I have never seen a movie with massive fight scenes if we don't count braveheart and LOTRs, I can't imagine what cool is with fast cut scenes and seemingly epic score in the background. How many times can they do that before someone says, maybe we should try something original for a chance, and bad thing about Scotty is that he is not that person.

He directed Alien and Blade Runner and that is it, he has done his good movies and continue making these hollow movies for the rest of his life without anyone saying a bad thing about him in hollywood. One good deed brings you pretty far there. Just look at Ashton Kutcher.

Umm.. how do you think I didn't understand what Village was? I don't like the movie = I don't understand the beauty of it? Jesus you are like one of those "for abstract art" speakers, people who don't like something and suddenly they are idiots.

With as good reasoning as you have, there must be something wrong with YOU if you think Gladdy was anything special, bad acting, seemingly epic proportions, story about strugle, I have seen all that and much more years before Gladiator was even a good idea on a bad writer.

My Top 5 changes from season to season, sometimes I feel like something actionpacked and sometimes something more "soft".

But some all time favorites are

1. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro)

2. Pirates of the Caribbean (Johnny again and Gore Verbinski)

3. Kurosawa's Seven Samurai

4. Lord of the Ring Trilogy

5. Kurosawa's Hidden Fortress

List goes on and usually they jump from position to position, I can't rate movies to list like this, like Kurosawas Seven Samurais is like a bomb, but so are Clint Eastwoods Fistfull of Dollars, For Fistfull More and Good, Bad and Ugly, not to mention Dirty Harry 1, 2 & 3.

But do tell me your top 5 if you can rate movies.

Mostly it's hard to do a top X list because like in my case, my list usually is tainted by few factors, like I'm a HUGE Johnny Depp fan, and I admire greatly actors like Christopher Walken, Paul Giamatti, Benicio Del Toro and the list goes on. And the fact that they don't do adventure movies like Indiana Jones movies anymore (aside from Pirates of the Caribbean), these days it's only these action movies with explosions and shoddy scripts, to me a true action movies is Dirty Harry 1, 2 & 3, Sharfts, Bullit, Serpico and others like them.

And I also enjoy greatly weird scriptwork and almost hallucinogenic scenes like what Vanilla Sky had, and Magnolia to some extent. And todays action and blockbuster movies are tainted by the Comicbook movies and LOTR Trilogy, not to leave Matrix unmentioned, we have to go on like a decade before their influense is erased. The movie business moves in seasons, and most of the time it's some type of movie that is the "top dog" and some movies that are underrated and almost have trouble getting the green light from studios.

But that is why we are having this KOH discussion, there has been several identical movies before this and they have all more or less sucked, like Troy, King Arthur, Alexander and now Kingdom of Heaven there might be more but I can't be assed to remember something I'm trying so hard to forget.
