I want to know why... oh why, wise d3.... why are all the famous metal bands shit?... Is it because once they got good and people liked them and the word spread about them that they magically become shit? To all who believe Heavy Metal is underground hard core shit....

    please tell me why

And I took the time to listen to a little bit of a sample from my dying bride.. and I have no clue why you would want to listen to something "singing" (if you can call it that) to you that sounded like the devil.... and the music sounds like phantom of the opera with a guitar

Yeah, if u started listening to death metal (or whatever its called) you are in the wrong way cj.

You can listen to some good cds at this site: http://www.uol.com.br/radio

    I recommend:

    http://app.uol.com.br/radiouol/linklist ... t=005723-0<@>Mutter&opcao=umcd

    http://app.uol.com.br/radiouol/linklist ... t=000593-9<@>Nothing_Safe_&opcao=umcd

    http://app.uol.com.br/radiouol/linklist ... t=002175-1<@>Metallica_Ao_Vivo_Vol.2&opcao=umcd

    http://app.uol.com.br/radiouol/linklist ... t=000960-0<@>Nevermind&opcao=umcd

http://app.uol.com.br/radiouol/linklist ... t=008443-8<@>Vol._3:_The_Subliminal_Verses&opcao=umcd (not too sure about this one, some songs are cool others shit)

    If you want melodic shit:

    http://app.uol.com.br/radiouol/index.ph ... =homebusca

    http://app.uol.com.br/radiouol/index.ph ... a&sss=nada

And if you want cool music sang by women you should look for "Theatre of Tragedy", despite the crappy name its awesome. I specially like "lorelei", "venus" and "A Rose for the Dead".

I girl I met at the english school 2 years ago introduced me to them and burned me a cd with only the coolest songs. So fucking cool~~

i'd consider early metallica as trash metal along with Anthrax and slayer.

btw, if you wanna experience some great music, do what st0lve said, start listening to some of the soft stuff that In Flames has produced (swedish band). Its really soft and VERY nice and melodic. Then you can move further on to a little heavier songs by the same group, and they really kick ass... still with the incredible melodicity...

i dont know how they do it, but i love em

As a something as a musican myself (I fiddle around with keyboards), I have come to hate genres, they make our life easier to define bands to people who haven't heard of the band, but these days it's way too complicated, there are way too much genres, and what makes it ever harder to use them to define a band is the fact that the genres have very little difference with one another and if you haven't heard of any band in the genre, well it's not much use to you to set a band in a genre you haven't ever heard of now is it.

Second, genres push people away from some style of music, and they miss something they might have liked just becuase they have something against the genre or other bands in it.

Metal is one of the worst examples here, there are more genres than there are bands, and to be honest, you can only hear difference when you listen bands from either end of the metal sub genres, the ones in between are like nuances away from each other.

I didn't say anything about 'famous' metal bands being shit, so I don't know where you got that from, I like plenty of famous metal bands, I listen to very few underground bands and the stuff I've posted is NOT underground.

Because it's great, you just don't understand. Vocals don't define how good the music is, the music itself does that, if you get past the 'growly' vocals then you'll begin to appreciate the music more and in time learn to live with the vocals and let's face it,

As for the 'singing', it's just like that it's not meant to be happy, Mdb are renounded for making misterable music. Download 'For My Fallen Angel', you might appreciate that more.

    Heh.

He killed him because he was fucked up and wanted to be more 'notorious than he was'. Mayhem's history is so messed, 'Dead' killing himself and then the others eating his brains I mean.. Christ.

emo's cooler because they only whine and hypothesize about what it's like to eat their bandmates brains metaphorically...

I dont like the music I listen to just because of the vocals... I listen to it because of the band and the melodies they produce... Have you heard David Guilmore's guitar solo's... there nothing like his solo's...

No it happened, back around 1992, Varg is serving (or was.. I'm not sure if he's out yet or not..?) a long sentence for Euronymous's murder. The 'eating brains' thing is only a rumour, but I wouldn't put it past being true, the early 90's BM scene in Norway was fucking insane.

D3 I have always loved the Floyds - Dark side of the moon, but don't know if it is the best first record to listen, other ones are Whis you were here, and Animals. But some early work could do good aswell, Piper at the gaes of dawn or Saucerful of secrets.

All I can say is that, Floyd is the greatest band/musical experiment ever.

I wouldnt believe everything i heard about all that crap, i'd estimate that about 10% is almost true...

Your levels are pretty fucked up... you can't just jump straight into doom metal.

And no Windir in viking metal? Dude..

Otherwise fairly accurate.. may have to check out your "level 6" fo's

And what about death/gore metal like Vehemence...

oh yeah.. and textbook power metal like "Rhapsody" hahaha
