The plot was good and the gameplay felt great, but it became unbearably repetitive with the seams showing really fast. If they can do something about that I'm intrigued.

First one was great and one of the few games I played through to the end in recent years. However it was indeed repetitive at times - but it wasn't bad enough to turn me away.

As long as they just make it a lot harder in the later parts of the game then I'd almost be content with more of the same, but it does sound like they're mixing it up in some good ways (dem Nemesis Fortresses sound interesting, if they do indeed adapt based on your playstyle)

Same, I even started a second run of it about three weeks ago 'cause I love this game.

The first one was great but I really disliked the ending, it was so anti-climactic for me.

First game was a gem for the 10 hours I was able to play it before getting too busy. That trailer was impressive even if still movie trope laden. I think the game could <hopefully> be better than the trailer.

So, is this a straight up strategy game now with isolated combat missions at the fortresses that is played from an overview map, and not an open world sandboxy action game anymore? That's the vibe I got from that video. I kinda liked that the original was framed as an open world game, even if it wasn't the best in class at that particular part.

Anyway, looks fine, the expanded nemesis stuff ends up sounding a bit convoluted in the video IMO, but it's absolutely the right call to double down on expanding that. I really want this to be good :)

Sword swinging, spell slinging, drake riding, badass ranger with a pocket Elf lord and a ring of power. Now THAT'S a power fantasy if I ever saw one.

Looks cool. Still curious if they can manage to keep it fresh from beginning to end this time.

I don't understand, Orcs fighting for a knight?

Really like the visual effects and powers of the ring, these double stealth kills, dragging an enemy from one roof to the one you're standing

I watched the video and wondered what the fuck was going on. It seemed to be ooooverly scripted to be honest. :P Random followers show up and do random shit and everyone dies left and right. Like, the player character was in trouble when fighting a champion or whatever and the champion just gets sniped. woot? :D

I hope it's good but who knows, maybe they took a brilliant piece of game design like the nemesis system and turned it into a michael bay movie. We'll see I guess.

Yeah the lore from the first game was that Celebrimbor can mind control orcs to fight for him and the ranger. There's also this thing with orcs fighting for the strongest.

Yeah I can see the mind control thing… but that's on one single orc. The others should still be under Sauron's control(?).

Haven't played the first, only watched a friend and playthroughs and I remember you could directly control an orc: that was intuitive and makes sense. I don't remember recruiting underlings of a controlled orc.

Maybe this was already there and/or is explained through some fiction, I dunno, but my head goes back to the movies… and there was nothing like it.

As it is feels artificial to me.

In the first game you're not building an army from the get go, it's explained later that Celebrimbor wants to use his power to build one. It's explained that in life, Celebrimbor would have wrecked Sauron if he wasn't betrayed by the ring, so he's powerful.

Not all orcs are mind controlled though, many just don't want to fight for the losing side. Sauron's just an eye in the sky while Celebrimbor is there slaying armies with a new ring of power.
