Don't get me started on the Vita. It's one of my favorite consoles of all time and Sony is not giving it enough love. It's such a nice piece of hardware. They really should have pushed it harder.
Luckily the smaller devs, indies, Japanese devs and a couple Canadian devs are keeping a steady stream of games coming. Over 200 games due this year ![]()

Still needs a lot of high-end/exclusive love though.
EDIT : Sorry for going off topic. :X
The more I look at the Mario Odyssey trailer the more I'm convinced that a lot of what's shown there is still pretty early, in blockout stage. Maybe they had to scramble to put together something for the reveal? Some areas look like just a colorized level design blockout. If that's the case it's the first time (that I remember of) that we can take a peek at their art process ![]()
I trust this game will look amazing when it comes out!

Has Sony given the Vita ANY attention except to patch its OS to block homebrew repeatedly? That's all I've heard about.

And that's actually a bad idea from Sony's part tbh. One of the biggest reasons people buy a PSP or a PSVita is to play emulators.
I replayed many of my favourit PSX games on my PSP, it was glorious.

I was so very sad when my PSP broke. Being able to play nearly anything from PS1 back on the go with good controls was amazing. One day, though, I took it out of my bag to find the screen broken and completely fucked up
I have homebrew set up on my 3DS, but despite being a newer system it's nowhere near as good at emulation right now. It can't even run Genesis games, ffs! ![]()

Not in the slightest. The only reason it has 200+ games coming out next year is because developers love it so much. Sometimes I think they want it to die.

As far as I know vita can't do emulators. When PSM was a thing people wrote emulators for it but the only way you could use them was to pay 100$ for a dev account so you could run unsigned code.
That may have changed since they shut down PSM in 2014 (2015?) but as far as I know it's still not a viable option like it is with PSP.

PS Vita has been pwned pretty hard (as has the 3DS) in the last year. From a quick google: http://wololo.net/emulators-for-the-ps-vita/
holy shit, last time I looked at that it didn't have much. Let alone retropie support!
I was already planning to buy another oled vita just because the hardware is so nice. I might have to buy a third for...... research ![]()
crap I gotta stop posting about the vita in the switch thread. Someday I'll make a vita thread and it will be insanely rant-y
Something I noticed from reading the FAQs is that it's even super easy to update to the specific hacked firmware (3.60) without going over on Vita. For the 3DS, you have to go through insanely complicated steps to drop your firmware back to basically the launch version, install a low level exploit, and then can patch over it again, and it takes like two hours to complete everything if you know what you're doing.
I somehow doubt the Nintendo Switch (tm) will be any friendlier to people wanting to customize it. I hope people tear it apart ASAP, because a decently strong kinda mobile console with SD card support (I loved the PSP for a lot of reasons but FUCK their expensive as hell memory card format) and full controls could be a contender for good emu machine successor.
Can't wait for this game man! ![]()

I can tell you, it's fucking awesome. It's going to score very high everywhere and it will receive a lot of praise.
Got one preordered, Friday can't come soon enough!~

If the activity in this thread on the day or the Switch's release is any indicator, Nintendo is in trouble. Me, I'm going crazy because my Eurogamer colleagues keep praising Zelda as if it's God's gift to gaming.
Hmm yeah Sprony. I was at a store before it opened to pick up Zelda and 1-2 Switch (didn't order games with the console). I got there 30 minutes early and expected a small line, but I was the first one there. By the time the store opened there were perhaps 7-8 people waiting, but much to my surprise it was only me and another guy that were there for the Switch.
They also had plenty of Switch consoles on stock, so it isn't even a problem getting one without preordering. Definitely a far cry from the Wii days or my experience of getting a PS4 at launch.
Anyway, can't wait to get back home and get into Zelda, haven't been this hyped about a game in ages.
A colleague told me they're all sold out in Stockholm. Might be due to region distribution though I guess, wouldn't be the first time.
I do actually really want Zelda. I just don't want this console, or to spend ~£350 for the privilege of playing it. First world problems.
