Here's a cool way to level up faster: Capture a ton of Pidgeys, Rattatas and the like, use a lucky egg and evolve them all at once (1000 XP for each, 2000 XP if it's a new pokeman)

Curious to try it out, but between the servers being down and the weather being shit here then it just hasn't happened

I keep seeing herds of neckbeards standing outside in circles playing this. One of my friends is pushing me to get a 2nd phone so I can play it (!) but I don't want a neckbeard :(

It's a good way to ensure your dog gets a nice full walk. I play it just while walking the dog (but I don't go for the crazy chase down a pokemon that you are tracking thing).

The game itself is pretty shitty but the experience is awesome. If you curious about the future of human interaction with the world (namely AR) definitely give it a try.

SInce usually the only strangers I ever get to interact with are either ppl who try to sell me shit or ppl who I buy shit from. It's interesting to see people to just hit idle conversations when they see we happen to tap at our phone screens at a yelling distance from one another.

Oh sorry, we have to jizz all over the game? Nah man, this is a discussion thread, everyone's entitled to their opinion.

I think it's awesome that its getting people out and 'interacting' with other people... I just personally don't like the game. Have fun with it if you do like that kinda thing!

Now that this gateway to heavy drugs and fistfights over imaginary monsters is out in Sweden, I have already noticed lots of people coming by where I work (usually only tourists come here) to farm/refill at the many pokestops in the area (we have many landmarks here) and eventually try to take over the gym which happens to be here too. Already we have cars making laps around the area rotating through the pokestops here, and even dropping lures, holy hell. And you can tell, as yesterday it was a parked Volvo here with like 4-5 people in it playing Pokemon Go, and I could hear the cheering when someone caught something good.

I find it completely crazy. I look at these players and non players getting together in the street just to get pokemons ^^ It's extremely strong !! The game hasn't been launched in France and everybody already have it, including daddys and mommys and this is crazy. It's an awesome experience. Probably one of the most sociable video game I've experienced so far. There were hundreds of people on Sunday afternoon sitting in a park to play in the arena... This is just insane.

I'm so happy when I see people in the street playing this game, probably because I like games, I like creating games and I like to see people being happy while playing games.

Yeah, this is really something else. Even if it's just a fad it really shows how fast habits can change. Everywhere you go here you see people with completely different routines thanks to the game. I even go on walks with my wife sometimes to capture pokemans, something we never did before (even though we live in a beautiful place with lots of greens). And you know what's even better? Since the game came out people already spend more time on it than on Facebook: http://mashable.com/2016/07/13/pok…k/#4MaCbcc7xOqq

Just yesterday I went to the stop near my apartment and there were people from all walks of life hanging out there, from housewives to gym bros. It's really fun too to travel to different places and seeing how their map is in the area, what kind of landmarks were chosen etc... I'm happy most of the landmarks are interesting local stuff such as murals, obelisks and manholes, and not big business (but I'm sure that's coming soon :( )

Now imagine when they release Animal Crossing GO :o

I think it's fantastic. Personally I'm not that keen on the game itself — on my iOS device it's laggy, low-res, and it seems like it needs a lot of polish including allowing you to skip the super-long animations — but it achieves its goal, which is to allow you to fulfil that childhood dream of going around the real world catching Pokemon and having adventures. OK, you might get mugged or chased off with knives, but it's all part of the fun!

In my opinion it shows that more than anything else people just want to explore the world and connect with each other, otherwise they'd just be playing the billion Pokemon games already out there. This is great and something developers should take into consideration, rather than churning out yet another shitty mobile game with 'social elements' which actually just means spamming people on Facebook or allowing chat.

Even at work, lots of people who I've never really talked to (it's a big floor) have suddenly been all around talking about the game which then breaks the ice and leads to further conversation and now we talk more. I'd be fascinated to know how many lasting friendships and relationships result from this game, which no matter which way you frame it is a good thing for humanity.

I think this game is indicative of the natural state of social behavior for humans (we require social interaction with one another in a more physical capacity) - the reason I say that is because, anecdotally, I know I get more satisfaction from a game when I can enjoy it with someone else in the same room/area. It's why I miss the older consoles that required same-room play for multiplayer. This could just be the nostalgia in me coming out though.

has anyone made a Pokemon: Global Offensive joke yet

if not, there you go. Good joke.

Also if you like this game, but especially if you hate its stupid bad servers, install Ingress. It's the predecessor that Pokego is based on, except unlike most sequels instead of adding new features and polish they stripped out most of the game to replace with an IP. Ingress has more to do, way, way more player interaction, and a cool gameplay hook of connecting the various points across your neighborhood to form geometric fields of "mind control" over your town for points, and a decent story about an alien invasion behind its features.
