Saw it at E3 last year. The guys from Sony Bend were super nice and down to earth. Hoping to see it again at E3 this year.

First few times I've seen this I thought to myself "here comes yet another post-apocalyptic zombie game yawn..." but having seen this I must say it is growing on me. Cool characters. And these "noots" (?) are something else.

I'm sure it will be... I was just surprised to hear "Alpha build" in the Game Informer gameplays. I mean feels like it's been in the consciousness for so long now that you just expect it to come out :D

The only thing that stands out out to me, is the art style. There's nothing unique about it, there's no particular stylization going on that makes you go like "Oh yeah, that's definitely Day's Gone DNA on there". Even Last of Us, which obviously shared the same realm, managed to find it's particular look with the clickers and the slightly exaggerated lighting and architectural shapes.

    Gameplay is hella interesting tho, but I hope they get rid of the screen clutter like 20xp 20xp 20xp 20xp 20xp 20xp 20xp 20xp 20xp 20xp 20xp 20xp 20xp 20xp 20xp. Seriously...

In the video (already posted ?) they mention you can disable the XP output via the menu. That's good news but I am generally annoyed it's even there, makes me think of Borderlands & co. On a realistic looking game looks super out of place.

I'm surprised by your comment regarding the art, being not unique how does it stand out? I do agree that it doesn't have anything going for it, and for me that's the downer. I like it, makes me think of TLOU and makes me think that might what they hope the average game connects to, but doesn't have the extra accent that makes it recognizable.

Previous trailers suggest it should have a good story/narrative. Then we haven't seen a horde like this I would say.

Videos make me think of World War Z.

thw way they describe the soft-survival mechanic makes me think of Mad Max, but hopefully they do it slightly more seriously (was way too easy in Mad Max after very little into the game)

My time is becoming very limited to be playing open world games like this, but I have friends who worked on this and it legit looks interesting to me, both the tech and gameplay.

Gonna get this day 1, it's showing a lot of potential.

    Oh wow IGN only 65

“Days Gone feels bloated, like a movie that goes on for an hour longer than it needs to or should’ve. It’s messy and confused, but peppered with genuinely thrilling encounters with rampaging hordes of zombies and occasionally breathless firefights. There’s a good game in here somewhere, but it’s buried in a meandering storyline, repetitive missions, and just too much obligatory stuff to do without an eye on the smaller details”

I was expecting a score around 75 tbh, but seems like it's a bit bellow that overall? Still playing this.

Digging it so far, most have put around 3 or 4 hours into it.

Holding a button down to perform an action in video games should be banned. Hate this trend Input lag feels a bit bad too, even on the pro. Could be just me, cos i know the game does run at a stable 30frames.

Enemies feel pointlessly bullet sponges, specially human enemies, i see what they try to do, it makes the world feel more dangerous, but they could have increased the damage enemies deal instead.

That said I am having fun and the game does offer a wide array of interesting things and missions dont feel artificially stretched so far.

When you see the hordes of zombies, it's impossible not to be impressed.

Best way to define Days Gone is like an unpolished open world Last of Us game.

You mean like when you have to hold down to turn a wheel abbe open a gate etc? Isn't that a choice motivated by the fact that it can be interrupted? Say player is attacked whilst performing the action. Also isn't it quite annoying to press a button and stare to your character performing an action for a few seconds?

    What would you have?

Anyway for this kind of action there was for a while a trend of mimicking the real-life action with a combo of controls, say hold down and rotate with the stick to rotates a wheel. I feel like it has gone out of fashion, although I liked it in most cases.

Shame the Pro is locked too
