They just need to get Sandy Petersen and American McGee on board as level designers!

even though they haven't shown much my first impression is that it's quite generic and uninteresting.

So wait, they're both moving to Ireland to make this game? I wonder why they're doing this.

Ireland has a very welcoming business/tax environment right now for game development.

There's a million places with that though ;)

Tax reasons. It's why Twatter, Apple, Microsoft and loads of other companies have stuff there.

They're moving because of the weather surely.

So now we get the new doom, unreal tournament, cliffyb's new game, this and probably more. I guess they all figured that the people who grew up with those games have a lot of buying power these days. Ripe for nostalgsploitation.

I prefer that a million times better than the current modern semi futuristic military FPS crap and the whole MOBA FPS wave we've got going on right now.

Wishing them best of luck, could turn out to be pretty interesting.

Right now it seems a bit too early to start a kickstarter though... all they have are ideas and two concept pieces?

I'd definitely back this without thinking twice if they had a working prototype at least.

Romero has moved to Ireland some months ago, like just after summer.

He has setup a new company from what I understand, some consultancy for new devs and producing mobile games. I might be wrong, or that might already be old news.

When I read the URL I thought they were talking about John Carmack.

Cheeky that the campaign starts even before they have anything to show; concept seems very back to basic, old school pretestuos narrative to justify such big changes.

Haven't really seen something satisfying from those that until now have claimed to be deceloping "back to basics" old school FPS games, so curious to see if they get anywhere.

15+ seconds of video padding just to get the timestamp to 4:20 lmao

Let's see if it gets funded I guess. Kind of interesting to attach your entire brand name to a kickstarter, who knows what will happen!

feels way too early for a Kickstarter, it just sounds like they're making another daikatana with the way they're banking on names. I'm curious as to how well it gets funded, people seem way more cautious with this kind of 'hype' Kickstarter than when stuff like broken age was funded.

I just spent $800 on a Howl so who am I to say it sounds like a bad move to put money into this. But they have really tried hard to make those CV's look better than they actually are, this doesn't seem very tempting or even interesting. I don't even understand why people are so eager to make more generic FPS games. Doesn't really seem like a moneytree anymore.

Yeah I've taken a back seat with all this "new old" FPS stuff. I feel the market's already getting oversaturated with this stuff... and to be honest, it wasn't all that great to begin with. Where are the people that want to create the next half life 1 type game instead? That would get my nostalgia dollar.
