All of these changes are utter crap, the only thing we need is the Women appreciation thread back, also there's not enough praise to Hurg atm, we should not lose faith in our savior. Remember, Hurg is love, Hurg is life.

I think you meant to say 'Men'. Also, who is this Hurg guy?

A function I would really like to see is "find all posts by author". Whether it's a filter in the advanced search or available in the profile* or both I don't care, but It'd be useful.

*think was like this in the old forum?

Hover over a members name and click "Find Content". Isn't that what you search?

I'm embarrassed, looks like what I was thinking!
Doesn't seem so intuitive or immediate, is one of those things that I'd make redundant.

I don't know how relevant this is, but I'll mention it here anyways.

When I browse the forum on my iPhone (5s) the threads show up as in the picture below. However, some threads with multiple pages has the option to skip to the last page (de_meat), while others (de_monaco & de_sawmill) doesn't. I've noticed that this only happens when the thread has less than 5 pages, which means it might be intentional, but I would find it handy if it showed up for all threads with multiple pages.

The content cannot be displayed because it is no longer available.

Do with this as you please, it's nothing major anyways :v

Maybe it will be worth considering to pull the non-professional work section out of the archives?, could serve as a great source for mapping rookies to get some additional experience.

Think the job census page should stay, was nice to get a quick overall overview of where people work, rather than checking profiles one by one

A valid point. However, that list is almost 2 years old. You have a lot of outdated stuff, members who aren't active anymore, etc. That's besides the point of finding someone willing to maintain it. But, if the community really wants it to stay, there's always room to discuss it. This of course, isn't one way traffic :)

Good updates. I'm only sad for the Census topic as is the only way to really keep up with job status changes and good way to compliment achievements... the list at the beginning, that I can imagine is annoying to maintain and probably no one reads it after being here for a while.

I thought about this some more. We could start a new thread and name it 'Mapcore in the game industry' or something like that. We pin and lock it. Anyone who wants to be featured there can send me a message and I'll add them. We can built in an requirement that they will have to fill in the same fields on their profile page. This way I don't need to contact them to keep things updated (I can just check their profile) and we still have an updated list for anyone to see without 150 pages to scroll through. How does that sound @Pampers and @blackdog?

Oh, btw, people can use the 'What's going on in your life' thread to mention job changes if they feel inclined and we can still compliment them on their achievements.

Sounds like work :P just keep it like it is without updating the first post constantly, or just switch to the 'going on in lyf' thread :)

Don't get rid of the job census thread please. Don't really care about the front page but its a good way for people to announce their new roles etc.

Well Sprony, I don't work in the industry so doesn't affect me directly and I would take into consideration what pros say. I thought about the "what's going on" solution as well and I guess would kinda work, but could be easily surmounted by the many more random life events. That topic has shitloads of pages too so I don't see the technical difference.

In the Italian gaming forum I follow, a constant topic like the "request for bans etc" in the private moderators area is restarted every year (old version is archived and you move onto the new one).

Call me crazy, but I'm currently working through the entire Mapcore Job Census thread. I'll reboot the topic once I'm done and present you with an up to date list just because you all like that thread so much.

What about putting those infos on profiles, with a case to check or not engaging your honor on the fact your work in the gaming industry and that you accept to make your position public. With a simple sql-like request you have the list of all people working in the industry, by name, by name of the company, by jobs. That dynamic stuff would be added separately and the list on the forum will be updated when something needs to be changed. And for those who want to share their happiness we could propose them to share it as they change it, like Facebook asks you to do for any change you make on your profile. Typically you would have a link to the page or even better, just a text zone, knowing that it will publish it always in the job census page :) don't know if I'm very clear?

Clear as water. That would be an awesome feature to have. But for now, we want to use Thrik for different coding things (read, bury under a ton of work) so I'll continue to do it manually. But this is going on my nice to have list for sure.

I'm at 'G' now on the list. I hate you all :P
