MapCore - broken image links

Jack is correct in that the graphical site update broke all images in threads/articles; we're talking here about locally hosted images on mapcore (uploaded here, not linked from a 3rd party site). Images display now a URL that leads to 404 page.

However, images are not lost physically; they are still here on mapcore but the links/thumbnails to them in threads are broken as a result of the update.

I found about this 2 weeks ago when I wanted to resume my project de_forlorn after a 1.5 years of hiatus. I was surprised to see all my images/thumbnails replaced with a URL that leads to a 404. I was about to get pissed off :), but I decided to check my profile first, the attachments section.

Funny enough, all the images were still there, so it was a matter of going back to my thread and re-editing the images links and they appeared again.

If Thrik can work out a global solution for old threads/articles to reinstate the images, it would be cool. If this is not possible, then you will have to contact the article writer and ask him to re-edit the images links.

Goto to thread/post you want to edit and click on "edit"; you'll notice that your images appear as a small broken thumbnail. If you scroll to the end of the post, you will see a module called "uploaded images".

Just click on the broken image thumbnail in the message body then scroll down and click on the corresponding uploaded image and it should link it again properly. Don't forget to save your post for the edits to take effect

Are you (or someone else) paying invisionpower monthly for the forum? Looking at their website it seems like it, and it's not cheap either.
If the above is true, you could ask them to fix it. It should be possible to have a script that can fix the links for all posts. If they won't we could make a mapcore complain contest

You got me confused with Thrik :v

I'm not the site owner, nor I am affiliated with site management; I'm not even a staff member

I'm just a regular member who faced this broken images issue last month and I'm trying to help fellow mapcorians in case they encounter this issue in their past posts/threads.

I already raised this issue to a staff member last month and I believe he contacted Thrik about it. Some members, including Jack a couple of posts above, have pinged him in their posts to draw his attention about this issue.

As I mentioned in my first post in this thread, If Thrik can work out a global solution for old threads/articles to reinstate the images, it would be cool. If this is not possible, then you will have to manually re-edit the images links in your posts.

It's a matter of manually re-editing all of them since not only images but also text formatting was lost. It's not a fun job to do so hence it hasn't been done yet. Since most of the affected content is mine I will eventually force myself to do it though.
