I really like the darker tone. It reminds me of HBO's true detective a little.

Oh btw, manslaughter probably shouldn't be very humoristic in the first place.

Can't wait to bring death and misery to the mobs in tune with the amazing soundtrack!

I'm still incertain with this one. The settings looks cools, the city / atmosphere...excepting the main character you'll play. Perhaps I'm too nostalgic with an old vision of an "Italian" mafia guy if you see what I mean.

I'm not interested in this at all but I do appreciate seeing a black guy in the lead. Should happen more.

I dont mind the black guy at all, for me the character race is transparent… its just doesn't sound like mafia. Call it Crime Simulator or something.

Yeah I'm finding it really hard to get excited by this. The setting and time period doesn't appeal to me personally. Mafia 2 I loved so much for the time period alone. Looks like a cool game though, no question about that.

What I found kind of meh was the actual gameplay actually. After playing Last of Us and Uncharted games, those cover mechanics look and feel so clunky compared. Those animations when he throws the molotov while in cover look so weird and rushed.

I guess this is one of those games where you need to overlook a lot of shit, and play it for the story.

Mafia 2 was one of few games back in the day to really grab me, it was a linear based narrative story with a basic open world to help bring the game's environment to life, the game almost seemed like it never really wanted to have sandbox elements but felt like it kinda needed to with the other games out at the time, but to be honest the limited open world was great, it had what it needed, places to fix cars, buy guns and clothes, as well as the odd unique location to make cash like the car scrapyard you can bring stolen vehicles to.

It had what it needed and nearly ignored the idea of side content entirely (except the playboy magazines) which in my opinion was what kept the story flowing as well as it did where other games like Fallout, GTA and many others put in so much side tat that the main game is lost in the whole affair.

Mafia 3 concerns me over this simple thing, I fear that it is going to base itself around the side content too much and will be made weaker for it but in short, the less time wasted on side content, the better.

So, this is out in a week? Not enough buzz about it, a 3rd Mafia game should be a big deal but somehow I'm smelling a minor flop. I hope they break even tho. We'll see.

Looks interesting, I'll be keeping an eye on reviews... I'll reserve judgment until I play it, but the "Mafia" name seems bolted-on, seems like they could have made this a new IP couldn't they? Does the Mafia name really hold that much sway for a non-Italian-mob crime game?

They're doing more work to connect it to the series than a Far Cry sequel ever has, lol

Haha, fair point! :) Although "far cry" is pretty broad and... meaningless isn't it?

They never attempted to connect FC titles, and that is -like it has been mentioned- cos it's such a broad title. And frankly that's perfectly fine. They do the same with GTA: change the setting, change the characters, same brand.

It's exactly the attempt to connect the last game to the previous, forcingly re-introducing a character that was previously the main one, that makes it feel bolted on ;) You want to be bold and revolutionary, than you don't need ties to old stuff.

    lmao, this is so good!

I'm getting the game when it's out, but I'm already predicting It's going to be bad so my expectations couldn't be any lower.

lolol. I just meant purely as a title, as words. :)

But yeah, the core pillars do translate between games (incidentally, there's a great GDC talk by the Narrative Lead of Far Cry 2 about boiling down the core aspects of that brand, and why they didn't put Trigen in 2 :P)

I really don't care for this title at all. I even turned down the review. Not because of what I've seen, I'm just completely done with the Ubisoft style of open world games.
