Isn't Chet one of the lead guys on L4D in the past?
Maybe we'll get an Orange Box 2? HL3, L4D3 and DOTA 2 and CS:GO ported to Source 2 anyone?

Isn't D2 already running on source2? The SDK is.
Wonder how easy it would be to port CS:GO, and what it would mean for mapmakers.
It is. But if I were at Valve I'd put in some exclusive DOTA 2 items or just include it on the disk or in the package to try and get more people playing it. It obviously makes Valve a lot of money so they would like to try and broaden it's audience I'd have thought.
Same for CS:GO. I doubt they'll make a new CS for a good while since CS:GO is just getting big and people are invested into GO with their skins and the competitive scene. Porting it to Source 2 would be the next logical step I guess?
I've not used the DOTA 2 SDK yet (just downloaded it to give it a go at lunch) but I believe it still has the ability to create BSP geometry (which DOTA 2 only uses for triggers afaik).

Please please please tidy up the SDKs and release a single toolkit that enables to work on any Valve game, supporting good ol' Source as well.

Source 2 doesn't actually use BSP at all, but a new mesh/"brush" system that allows concave geometry and such, with controls that are a nice mix between Hammer 1 and Modo.

Yes, if i'm not wrong It's the successor to the OpenGL. Valve is into it because they can't stand being dependant of DirectX and Microsoft tools, i guess it's also due to their SteamMachines (which runs on their SteamOS that is basicaly a Linux OS with SteamBigPicture runing on it).
The thing is that the conference name is "The Future of High Performance Graphics", so there might be some really interesting demos there

Source 3!
uups :x
Valve will be following the same naming conventions of Nintendo and Microsoft by calling their next engine the "NEW Source One Engine XL U Day Zero Edition".
-
So also they're gonna say that so many things have changed, there are so many new features… that they are gonna skip HL3 and cask it HL4 xD

"Relax people, it's most certainly not Half-Life 3"

Seems like HTC is developing hardware powered by SteamVR
Promo video:

We have provided more information on this in our privacy policy. The specs on that device are pretty excellent.
1200x1080 resolution per eye running 90 fps.
Gyro, accelerometer and laser tracking along with somekind of beacons you place in the room.
This allows you to walk around your room with "accurate" positioning.
Don't know about the pricing but this might be the device that gets me to jump on the VR bandwagon.
I guess we'll learn more next week.

Can't wait to see what valve will show

Also are they purposly trolling us with the GDC?
Quote"GDC 2015 is scheduled to take place in the first week of March 2015 and Valve has a scheduled event for Tuesday, March 3 and exactly at 3 PM. Is this a Half Life 3 confirmation, the 3rd of the 3rd at 3pm, that's 3 3's?"

Not sure about a HL3 announcement. But without a doubt that event time is an intentional troll by Valve.

I can't take much more of this. It has been 11 years since Half-Life 2. 7 years since Episode 2. I'm gonna be dead from old age and never get to see HL3 at this rate.

I smell another market domination by VALVe.
First there was digital distribution, here's the new deal.
I am sure HTC+VALVe are the right guys to tackle this properly.

I wouldn't be so sure, Oculus has Facebook cash and the smartest graphics dudes out there. Plus Valve lost most of their VR guys to Oculus. I wonder if they're still working together.
-
I was always under the impression that Oculus was pretty open with other VR devs when it came to their tech, obviously not the bleeding edge stuff but the foundations at least.
This is also the 3rd year of mainstream VR development so I'm expecting Oculus and Valve to be going head to head in Q3/Q4.
But then again, we need valve to actually show us something, we need something concrete, I've used an Oculus DK2 & was lucky enough to try out Sony's Morpheus headset last year and both were really coming into there own as solid VR products.
But, there is a developer preview for the spring so we will know what's going down fairly soon and I'm hoping in the back of my head they turn up to Develop in Brighton (July) with this new VR headset, just so I can get a look first hand.
Either way, it's an exciting time for VR development and now we have 3 major contenders going against each other and that can only mean better products for the consumer!

That's a point there. Doesn't mean there are not enough fresh brains to compensate the losses though.
Let's see, what they have to show on 3rd March and this year in general.
