I've got a lot of hobbies and interests. One of them is table top gaming. Recently, my friends and I, rebooted this hobby. We have 2 groups. The first group, hosted by me, plays Heroquest and the second group, hosted by a friend, plays Warhammer Quest. I of course, play both. Since we're having so much fun I've expanded this into the Warhammer 40K universe by buying the Dutch version of Space Crusade (original English version is too expensive) and Space Hulk. So hopefully I can add a 3rd group to our monthly roster soon. To top that of, I just backed the Conan Kickstarter so that will be coming in October this year as well. I figured there must some table top gamers on the Core so why not create a thread to talk about it?

I love 40k and played it a few years back. Still have a box in my closet with the entire army. Anyone else that used to be into this? I.e. the 40k main game. Table top gaming can be really nice, I only wish 40k was more streamlined, balanced and less time consuming. Found some old pics in my backup folder, click spoiler for 100% nerdiness.

That's awesome dude. Imperial Guard for the win! Did you paint those yourself? That's like next level shit man. Seriously, respect. I think it's amazing how some guys can paint. You don't even have to play, just collect these pieces of art

Honestly, on a game forum, I would really expect more table top enthusiasts :S

I do play WH40K a couple of times a year. Used to play more back in the day. Still have a lot of unpainted stuff lurking somewhere.

Other board games we play on a more regular basis:

    - Bang!

    - Talisman

    - Dominion

    - Carcassonne

    - Grass

Would recommend any of these if you have a group of people and haven't tried them.

Good suggestions. But we already got our hands full. You only played W40K wargames?

Mostly between me and a couple of dudes. I got a Tau army and my friends got Space Marines and IG.

I did play Space Hulk a couple of times but that's like 20 years ago or something.

    My fav games:

    7 Wonders

    Dixit

    Catan

    Smallworld

    Pandemic

Battle Sheep (familygame with great depth)

Once upon a time (if you like stories, try this)

You can see that I'm not that hardcore gamer. I like to play games with easy to learn rules and short playtime (30-60min)

Agreed, max 2, 2 and half hour games are best imo.

I'm a 40k nut. Ask me anything about the lore and fluff and I'll answer it. Also used to play Space Marines back in the day. Ultramarines of course. Because Ultra. I had to stop eventually though as our group kinda fell under and had no one to play with And it was hella expensive for a young teenager.

We had a lotta Mordheim players, Gorkamorka and regular Warhammer Fantasy goers too.

last one I played was Looping Louie, losers had to drink hot chilli shots lol, other than that I've enjoyed Risk and Monopoly. Played a few at friends houses but can't possibly remember the names. They are fun, but tbh that's mostly due to the company than the actual game.

LOL just found this, that's why ...
