I came across this on an Android Police post, but I thought there's no better place to share this than here!

Pay what you want (Humble Bundle style) for 115+ hours of tutorials worth approximately $796 for charity:

    • Make Real Games: Become A Unity 3D Power User (£200)
    • Get Schooled: Professional Video Game Art School ($399)
    • Engage Your Customers With Gamification ($49)
    • Learn To Craft "Hand-Painted" Textures ($49)

What's with the certificate of completion? This sounds like one of those bogus online university degrees or whatever.

I mean the handpainted texture stuff sounds interesting, but I'd probably prefer a book.

I know there are a lot of professionals here already who won't be interested in this at all, but I know there are also a lot of people here who might find this useful to gain some direction.

I'm a total novice, so for me, certificate or not, I would like to give it a go

I think you misunderstood, I'm curious about what it even is...?

It seems like those 3dbuzz or gnomon type video courses. The texture one does look really intriguing as does the unity one but I'm worried you have to have a internet connection to view them and I can't put them on my tablet to watch later.

I haven't had a lot of luck with video courses because I lose focus at the start because they tend to go too slow then sometime during my lack of attention they go past my current comprehension level and I start scrubbing like hell.

I think a ton of annotations and video section bookmarks would help.

Either way I'm still considering it...

You can click on the "udemy" link underneath the title to preview the contents. I previously bought the hand-painted texture one and it's a pretty good value at $6. It's by the lead character artist on WoW.

By the way I highly recommend signing up for the Udemy newsletters, it's a huge website with lots of gems buried in there. 3d-motive for example is selling all their stuff there now and every now and then they get some crazy good deals (like $5 bucks for a course etc): https://www.udemy.com/u/donott/

I'm pretty sure there's a sale coming up at black friday or something, so watch out for that

If only we had all these resources when were making mods years ago
