My 1 bedroom flat in Birmingham cost me £650 a month just for the rent, before bills or anything.

Yeah that might just about cover your rent and bills if you live outside the city. I dunno what you'll do for food though!

Yeah I'm originally from the West Midlands and the house prices up there are ridiculously cheap. Depends what kinda lifestyle you wanna live I guess. If you want to have a million things to do but not have any money to do them with, then move to London. And vice versa

City centre is always more expensive, I pay £650/month in Nottingham (city Crytek UK is in) and Crytek UK itself is based in a building that's all apartments above the first floor and a similar-sized flat to mine goes in there for £875/month.

If true, the title of this thread is more fitting than ever. Deep Silver = Koch Media. They picked up a bunch of THQ assets (Volition and the rights to Saints Row and Metro). I really hope that Crytek will make it and not have to let go of too much/too many. I can see why employees are angry and want to bring this situation into the open, but the leaks are ultimately hurting themselves by weakening Crytek's position in negotiations.

I won't comment on the news reports or confirm whether they are true or not, but what Frie just said about leaks in general is spot on, here in the UK we are all trying to comprehend what anyone has to gain by spreading such information, whilst knowing the damage it can cause.

    Thanks for the concern guys.

UK citizens don't have to be afraid of layoff. There is some super job to take.

Crytek's principal graphics engineer departs for id Software [Blocked Image: http://media.pcgamer.com/files/2012/04/…-5-1024x576.jpg]

Tiago Sousa, a longtime Crytek employee who served as the R&D Principal Graphics Engineer in the company's Frankfurt studio, has announced that he's left the company to become the Lead Rendering Programmer at Doom developer id Software.

The stories of trouble at Crytek have been persistent but unverified, and it's impossible to know to what extent Sousa's move to id Software is connected to it, if at all. But at least his departure is confirmed.

Sousa has been with Crytek since the original Far Cry and has been the Principal Graphics Engineer on the Frankfurt R&D team since Crysis 2. That may not be the most glamorous development job ever, but given Crytek's well-deserved reputation for developing cutting-edge game engines, it's hardly insignificant. Sousa's move is good news for id and anyone looking forward to big things from Doom (and, maybe someday, Quake), but for Crytek, it has to hurt.
