The funny thing is, this is actually looking like it may be a bit of a departure from the standard CoD-fare (not saying if this new take is good or bad). But, that might be the thing that actually creates a problem, because a large part of the CoD playerbase probably don't like change (deep-down) nor all this "sci fi mumbojumbo". Will be interesting to see if they embrace this stuff or not.

Yeah, even though COD is pretty fast paced as it is, then this looks like it'll speed up even more. But then they'll probably lose a lot and gain a lot of people by doing that. Personally then for the first time in years I'm kinda curious and interested in a COD game (beyond the fact that everyfuckingthing else is being pushed to 2015 and this being the only thing that's guaranteed to come out this year ). At the very least to check out all this new customisation stuff, and if it'll actually be balanced.

    BF4 "Levolution"

    + Titanfall (without Titans)

    + Crysis' Nanosuit

    + Little bit typical CoD

Pretty much. But then again, I don't think we can dismiss any game for having "components" that can be linked to other games. Virtually every game has some sort of heritage or inspiration and what truly makes a good game is how everything comes together in the end. For example, Crysis 1 nor 2 (haven't played 3) didn't have particularly tight or memorable multiplayer gameplay which CoD:AW atleast has the potential of having.

That's true. But still - it jumped right into my eye

This looks fun just as much as Titanfall.

    I'd play some.

The extreme character customisation and progress makes it (and all these games nowdays) a bit too on the "hardcore" for me. Who has the time to get all the fancy weapons?

It's a bit of a shame as I (totally unbiased-ly, of course) think we did a decent job with the Crysis 3 multiplayer, we just had neither the team size, budget, technical foundation or player base to convert what we made into much of a success, past the initial favorable review stage anyway. Now to see a much larger franchise like this take so much 'inspiration' from what we did (along with other games) is a little disheartening (they've even taken the orbital strike kill streak from C3 according to that video).

Then again though, as Puddy said, there's not a lot out there that's totally original anymore, and everyone borrows from somewhere. Also I do actually love playing COD multiplayer and I like the fact that they are trying to freshen things up, regardless of where they got their ideas from. So basically, I'm conflicted. In time though I will get over it and I'm sure this will be another COD that I end up playing for the majority of the next year until the next iteration.

/! cry baby of the week /!

Didn't Crysis play a lot like CoD too? If anything I'd take it as a compliment that the main shooter franchise in the world is borrowing ideas from a game you worked on. Just because someone is the first to realize an idea doesn't mean that they own the idea...

If you think I'm being a "cry baby" you may have misinterpreted what I said, though it is late and maybe I didn't word it well. I wasn't saying that we owned anything that was in c3, I acknowledged that most ideas are borrowed anyway. I was just saying that AW looks similar and looks like the game that I wish c3 could have been, in terms of popularity. I think it's a fair comment

Do you think it's that? Frankly at this point I don't think all this matters. CoD has critical mass, you can throw all the money you want at a "cod-killer" and you won't make a real dent in its audience. This is my impression: only COD can kill itself.

Yeah definitely. That's what I was getting at by referring to the player base

My dislike for COD aside, that 7 minute gameplay trailer did nothing for me. Was bored 2 minutes in and stopped it.

I mean...it'll be another CoD campaign/story so how amazing can it be? I'm assuming roughly 5 hours long. I must say it does feel a bit like Black Ops 2 which I admit I enjoyed. Right now I'm feeling more positive about the SP compared to Ghosts which felt uninspired.

eh...giving it a chance at least.

After seeing the MS press conference, I have the impression that the exosuit jump is not as fluid as it should and appeared to be from the first trailer.

I have a feeling this game is a recycled version of old call of duty.
