Holy shit, this game is good! Dat batmobile is like the swiss knife of automobiles.
Also, looks absolutely gorgeous, hard to believe this is running on a console.

47%. Pivotal turn in the story.
If Arkham Asylum, despite its dark nature, was a comic book... this is The Killing Joke of graphic novels.

looks dope, why'd they have to screw the pooch on the pc port :ubermad:
Quote from Zynwhen you let a third party company with a history of bad ports do the port of one of the years biggest game releases...
Yes this is a serious strategic error on Warner's part. I don't know how much Rocksteady was the deciding factor or not in that decision, but the bigger question is how much Warner thinks it can sell (at full price) of the PC game through Steam. A huge amount of people on Steam got past Batman games on Steam sales or by other way-less-than-full-price-means so that may have influenced how much support Warner was willing to oversee into the PC port. Sad, cause it leads to them having to pull the game from Steam so quickly.
Anyway...played more last night...liking it more...
who did the port?
Quote from Pamperswho did the port?
In this day and age of multiplatform engines... (why) do we still need ports?
Anyway, apparently WB has redirected resources and Rocksteady is working to fix it themselves... from the news article I read (Italian), there are concerns of the Season Pass content being delayed for consoles because of that. Dunno if it's just them speculating or there are indications.
I was just thinking if we should have seen this coming... I mean, at like a month before release I was contacted by Amazon to say that retail PC version of Batman was cancelled, but due to early preorder I would have gotten a limited print. I thought that was only because they decided digital would be more profitable, but in hindsight can't help thinking they saw this coming, and covered their asses: can you imagine having to also recall physical copies?
Anyway here a post where they explain their todo list, here Sefton Hill confirms that they are working internally.
At this point, since the game runs fine for me, I'm dreading updates and thinking I should maybe disable updates until they get to the proper patch... I most definitely don't want anything to screw up with my copy halfway through the game!
This whole fiasco has been a massive victory for consumers - specifically for the Steam refund policy.
I can foresee several delayed PC games in the future, and I am fine with this if it means our games get the same kind of treatment that Rockstar gave GTA V, and CDPR gave Witcher 3.
I'm so into it, my free time has been almost completely sunk into it.
The hallucinations are great.
This game is so fucking good man! Holy fucking shit...
26h and I'm 48%.
I should prob buy this for my PS4...
Fired it up late last night (after watching Man Of Steel) and been up till 7 ?
I completed the main story, like 77% of the game.
It's a masterpiece.
Goddamn. Started playing after work yesterday "I'll play one hour before showering", I played till 1am straight :-|
And that's only to finish the Riddler's quest. Got to 97% of total completion. A few trophies are annoying, but most make you feel smart, very well designed.
What do you guys think about me getting this without having played any of the previous Arkham games? I don't know if I have the stamina (or time) to get through all three of them, although I guess with #3 being by another studio I could just do the first two games. I guess I'm wondering if this is the kind of series where I'll genuinely have a better experience having gone through those first (like Uncharted), or if I might as well just jump into this (like Assassin's Creed).
Yeah, #3 is good but you can ignore it as it's not vital to the whole story arc, in my opinion.
If you play Arkham Knight first, then right of the bat there's a really big spoiler in the first couple of hours that might (or not) ruin the ending of Arkham City for you. But if you don't really care for such things, you can dive right into Arkham Knight and if you like it, you can always try the previous two.
I would of course recommend you play the Arkham Asylum, followed by Arkham City then play Arkham Knight. Not only because of story, but because you can feel the genius behind this franchise, all three games follow a very specific flow that you'll only truly grasp if you play them in order.
For example, in Asylum, you're confined to an island but it's a much more intimate experience, it's also my favourit of the bunch, a true master piece. Whereas in City it obviously opens the gameplay a lot more, Arkham Knight just ties all loose ends beautifully.
It's a really fantastic franchise, only to be rivaled by Uncharted in terms of how much it grabbed me.
Well of course I'm partial because I love it, but although if probably is not necessary to play them all in terms of fun... you are gonna really, really miss out.
And it's not too much of a spoiler to play this one first, because you don't live under a rock so you probably already know -- I think the ending of Arkham City was part of the marketing campaign. The central thing is the journey of experience.
As HP said there's genius behind this; after all it's the first comic book tie-in that really works.
To draw a comparison, would be like watching Dark Knight Rises without the others. Sure you would enjoy, you would say "Oh the Bat Pod is cool!", but you wouldn't know how it came about!
Skipping the first two Arkhams is like missing out on Heath Ledger performance: that's maybe the best portrayal of a villain in cinema, Mark Hamill's is the same for videogames. You wouldn't have the sense of progression of the characters and really appreciate the amazing work they've done here to cap it off.
Definitely playing everything now in a hurry is a tour de force, so if you feel you can wait, you can either get Arkham Asylum and see how you get on*, or wait a few months for the remastered version that is planned, and then get Arkham Knight in the inevitable GOTY edition.
I dunno if they spoil what for me is the best part of the game, which pays off precisely thank to the previous games, but I suggest not to read any review: check out the trailers and take it from there.
Arkham Origins is most definitely forgettable, as a fan I didn't like it. It's more of the same in the wrong way, what's missing there is a story with teeth really. Plus Joker is played by "that actor that plays all the voices of the big games", Troy Baker. As amazing that he was in Last Of Us, as the Joker he's rubbish. Or simply they mixed the sounds wrong (I had trouble understanding many dialogues, feels like the voice is on the same channel as sound effects).
*I feel the need to add that when Asylum came out I waited several months, I wasn't convinced by the videos (never been into button mashing games) and even after playing the demo I took some time to buy a "top seller" edition, those cheaper re-prints.
All right, you guys have convinced me. I'll play Asylum, City, and Knight.
I just saw that there might be a remastered collection coming for the PS4, so I'll wait to see if that comes. Got lots of other games to keep me going in the meantime.
