de_tides is visually awesome. If you think otherwise your opinion is wrong.

The newer map going to be release looks pretty bad but will probably play well.

BTW it 100% OKAY to base architecture off a google image search references. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. If you think otherwise you're a dick faced cock monster.

Ive been playing tides alot these past few days, really awesome map, but it gets cramped very easily. I constantly find myself blocked by other players when u get over 16 players on a server

i dont see why using google image search to find reference pics is bad.

As long as the map plays well, I'm happy (althoughy I of course would prefer a map that both plays and looks good).

Well, not that I play CS that much anyway.

What on earth? I thought we were expected to jump on a plane, fly half way around the world and then take pictures with a high resolution camera? Everything I know is wrong.

In all seriousness, what the hell is wrong with using google to find pictures to use as references? If you google aztec you will find some good pictures of the large temple things found in the skybox of de_aztec.. it works, so what's the problem?

Tides looks very nice, but it seems a little twee (for want of a better word).

Actually, i don't feel tides is that good visually. I mean, the textures are great. The models are great. The skyline is great. The brushwork is great. They all fit together. Then why nag? The map makes no sense, simple as that. That map, simply isn't a village. Now if the plays alright, that doesn't matter all too much, nobody is gonna pay attention. But that's simply because visuals don't matter that much for Counter-Strike, the CS players simply do not care. I think de_tides is pretty nice looking, the colors and textures and all, but nothing more than that. I mean, what is the purpose of the village, touristic, is it some kind of ancient old village where people used to live. Those rooms and corridors serve no purpose at all, living there would be simply impossible, it's just not a real location, and that annoys me, as a mapper. The visuals are good, but not great, it just lacks realism.

Do you know what? I have to agree with you.

The map is nice but it's not fun to play on it.

And why i really feel so, i don't know. It's maybye the gameplay.

    And it's still small..

I wasn't even talking about the gameplay, but yes, the gameplay's not that good as well. With some modifications it could work as Deathmatch arena though. (which also explains why it doesn't work in cs)
