EU/USA news that you read not so free as you think, don't forget about it when you read political text from "free journalist".

Everybody knows most of the media is corrupt. What i find a big difference is the attitude of the population tho. Most Russians just seem to swallow state run media whereas people in the west call out their media all the time for bullshit reporting.

It doesn't surprise me when US officials lie and it doesn't surprise me how toothless EU/US reacts to the Russian provocations. They are shitting their pants because it could cost our economies a couple billions. There is another lesson to be learned here which is that one oligarch does not pick another oligarch's eye out.

Heavy fighting in Lysychansk, Lugansk Oblast. Ukrainian forces have taken several other cities also, seems the calls by our politicians for an immediate ceasfire only applies to Putin. I've always doubted direct Russian involvement since there's never been any real proof and this only strengthens my view that if Kremlin was backing them (they no doubt have funding coming from elements within RF but connections to the government are not concrete), they wouldn't be losing so much ground. Slovyansk was a huge blow and it seems like only a few days before they'll try to enter Donetsk.

lol deads so laughable, you remember those 3-4 ceasefires the last few weeks, where the rebels still attacked the Ukrainians? Yeah bit fucking late for the rebels to cry wolf.

Just reporting as it is, crying wolf is your interpretation. Btw the last major ceasefire that Poroshenko announced for several days was nothing more than a smokescreen for the assault on Slovyansk. Before that, both sides have been responsible for breaching any kind of peace made, especially Lyashko's thugs.

hmm so you're saying that the majority of e.g. German TV stations like ARD & ZDF as well as (public or private owned) newspapers report news that are being fed to them by the government without checking the facts? I didn't know that. Please elaborate.

P.S. A rebel commander has confirmed that a BUK was in their possession at the time http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/0…N0FS1V920140723

It's still not an interview, what did Reuters, it's microphone under t-shirt and still no facts.

No i didn't say that. The situation is different. In Russia the government itself corrupts the media. In the west media AND governments are corrupted by private political and/or economic lobby groups. Of course ARD/ZDF isn't comparable to something like RT or Fox News whose whole reason for existance is to push an agenda. But ARD/ZDF arn't free of an agenda of their own either. Frontal 21 for example has a long history of bullshit reporting. And public broadcasters are just one aspect of western media. Most plebs in Germany get their opinions from Bild and RTL.

Bild for example is completely one sided in the way they report about Ukraine. Their narrative about the Maidan protests always was "our beloved sporting hero Klitscho leads the heroic fight for freedom of poor Ukrainian people". I knew through other sources all along that parts of the protesters were neonazis and thugs. The first time Bild even mentioned it was after Janukovich fled. It also took them very long to mention the ethnic divide of Ukraine.

So if you want to really understand a situation you can't put your trust in just one media source. You have to filter through all kinds of media outlets, do a bit of research of your own about history behind events and most important use your own head.

Unfortunately that seems to be the trend. Not everything can be western propaganda, Russia does some bad things sometimes, including their actions in the Ukraine.

The US shot down an Iranian passenger jet full of like almost 300 people in the 80s, and we never apologized, so I guess I understand that sometimes you just want to ignore the issue or act like it is somebody else's fault. Not to mention all the other terrible shit we do in the middle east for example. Nobody is pretending the West is perfect, but to sit there and act like all of Russia's misdeeds are the West's fault, or that Russia is perfect, is gross.

well, apparently we are moving in now with a small group of (40) commandos and workers to clean up Putin's mess.

    atm only in Dutch:

right now I'm kind of surprised about this decision. imho we should have done this the moment we knew what happened, but now? feels a little weak, silly and provocative to me. and how the hell are 40 commandos enough? shit's getting tense either way.

edit: now different sources say different things. just read those guys are not commandos but unarmed police. which would be stupid times 100. we still bear the scars of Srebrenica (were we sent in troops with insufficient support resulting in a pretty horrid situation) after which our government promised never to use any lightly armed forces against a force majeure

edit2: looks like Putin's daughter has left the Netherlands. small detail but stuff like this could potentially make it more personal
