I'd like to have a bit more informations because, for now, it could be rendered in CS:GO as FMPONE said.

And i also think that Valve is great in animations (physic, facial animation, building destruction ...), and we won't be able to see it in pictures

because you work at a dev who does sub fucking surface real fucking time scattering with fucking physicalized wind impulses in real fucking time with more polygons than a hl2 character per bush, Geez our next step will no doubt be making them grow in real fucking time :>

all jokes aside, I love Cryengine

You heard it here first! Chris hates Cryengine!!!!

The real revolution is probably right in front of our very eyes. Valve has perfected its physics technology to the point where with a flick of a switch that entire building can explode into 10,000,000,000 physics-enabled pieces, with every single particle of stone and dust reacting in real time to its neighbours, all running on a PlayStation 2.

I really hope that that radiosity is real time. this looks megasick. It's so clean! no crazy AO covering the screen or anything!

According to the dude who posted that second screenshot on Valve Time, the powerpoint is from 2011.

I don't know how mind blowing people expect it to be in this day and age? Graphics have sorta peaked, to a certain extent. It's certainly not as wowing as the first Source reveal, but it's still exciting to see that level of detail in Source.

I think that just tells us where we're at. CryEngine and Unreal are throwing around crazy shaders and particles that are simply impressive due to the tech involved, while Source does a nice looking and playing scene. Mast modern engines feel like you're playing mid 2000s graphics card box art, while Source tries to be more of a Pixar film (not trying to sound like a pretentious asshole here). Focus isn't placed upon the engine's features, but what game will come out of it. What's revolutionary about Source 2 probably won't be in its graphical capabilities, but will be in its ability to do Counter-Strike just as well as it does Half-Life.

Are they going to upgrade current games to this tech, then? Or just use it in the new games? (L4d3, hl3, tf3 etc)

I'm not sure cs:go or dota2 would benefit from looking better at this point, its all about game play and with better graphics comes a higher cost, which always means less players..

Noob question: If these are meshes, not brushes, does that mean everything is gonna have to be modelled and imported? :s
