Yeah it's true, it's good actually as they admitted the previously (when it was 24 episodes) they ended up creating filler episodes, so none of them this time around

I'm excited. I think a shorter format — at least for now — could be good, as it'll force them to avoid the padding and figure out what makes the series work. To an extent I did like the longer format of the previous seasons because by the end of it you were almost feeling as fatigued as Jack Bauer and it felt like you'd been truly involved with the crazy shit going on due to following it minute by minute, but some seasons did feel like they didn't really know what to do with all that time.

Fuck though, when 24 was good it was good. The only thing that's come close for me in recent years is Homeland, although I've still not watched past the first season of that. Highly recommended for 24 fans, though.

I actually loved season seven, and felt like that was exciting all the way through. It really felt great getting out of Los Angeles and mixing up the formula, and it looks like they'll be continuing that by setting this one in the UK(!!). It'll be really interesting to see how Bauer's unique approach fits in with our different approach to many things over here.

I used to love 24! I think I watched up to season 7 but got bored after that. The earlier seasons were much better! I do hope they take it back to being awesome again

I was thinking the other day that with Breaking Bad, there hasn't been tv this good since 24... all hail the return of the king!

Yes, agreed with D3ads. Although i haven't seen some of the most awarded shows (eg Lost) i think 24 is the best show i've ever followed. And it's funny because at the beginning i saw just a few bits on tv and dissed it as "too cheap and old", i found the clock count particularly annoying... then i started really watching it when they were already like at season 5 after couple of friends stressed me over and over.

Yes there were some filler episodes here and there, and you would spot them immediately, but overall with such a long season it would make up for that, while for eg. i'm still hurting for the stupid fly episode in Breaking Bad.

As far as I can remember seasons 6 and 4(?) were the less gripping, but boy.

Hype train coming through for this one.

I've just realised something... 24 was real time, each episode was exactly an hour with commercials, so if it's only going to be 12 episodes long... how is it 24 hours?! Is each episode going to take place over two hours? I get some of the episodes were filler material... but it was still damn good, even when not much was happening.

If I remember correctly they said that there'll be time jumps between some episodes, but it'll still be one day.

    Set in London.... bah!

Chloe's in it Audrey Raines is also back, first time since Season 6... kind of on the fence on that, nice eye candy but kind of an annoying character...

Stephen Fry as the prime minister? ....seriously?

Chloe does my head in, sad they're bringing her back. I love a bit of Stephen Fry, though.

Yeah Chloe is a bit over quirky and out there but she's been a central character since S3, she had to be back!

I frankly never gotten to find any reason to like Chloe, too much of a comic shoulder in a show were i don't want to see any comical sketch.

Yeah, I've just never liked her inclusion really. Seems out of place in a show where basically everyone else dies except Bauer, although can you imagine the outrage if they do eventually kill her off?

    lol, i would pop champagne!

Aside: i'm seeing a lot of advertisements for the return of NCIS, in the spot they show the previous season ended up with them being bombed... deja vu
