Boom badabing, I hate this "pro gamer commentary" bullshit even more than the acted "friends playing games together".
Watching without sound is better, looks pretty fun actually.
I just hope it's as responsive as the L4D games. My problem with most modern fps-games is that they're so sluggish even with mouse and keyboard.
Every fps-game ever needs to be based off of ID/Source movement

1. Anyone here in the alpha?
2. Anyone here in the alpha that's actually able to play the alpha?

got a key and signed up and everything, waiting for an email or something

I'm in alpha, unable to play alpha

Aight, got it to work. Played one game as a hunter (trapper) and one game as the monster.
The latter was 235% more tense, lol. Managed to win the game by just avoiding the players almost outright until I was level 3. Then I revealed myself, got them to pursue me, ran off a bit and then ambushed the greediest pursuer. Once he was down, I used their willingness to try and revive him to their disadvantage.
It was a close call though and a pretty fun fight!I can see the appeal of the game, but I fear for it's longevity. Fighting wildlife isn't particularly rewarding at all and it feels weird to mostly avoid fighting the enemies which are fun to fight as a monster (humans). When playing as a hunter I felt like sprinting in circles after the monster and only occasionally fighting it might get a bit stale after a while. My current impression is that this game feels more like a lighter 17,99 - 30 euro type of game and definitely not a full retail one.

Got the alpha for owning xcom. I really want to like the game, but the human gameplay just isn't great. I haven't gotten the chance to play monster, but I doubt I'll go back.
So far the community is already pretty awful, and of the 4 times I matchmade, I got a single working game. Once it failed, another it crashed to desktop, third it worked, fourth, spawned as bot that was under the map (which I was yelled at for...). It also wasn't performing well at all, tons of audio stutter while things streamed in.
Most of the game is trying to find the monster while they outrun the humans the entire game, then at level 3, everyone dies. Generally you feel useless as human, with the monster being a big bullet sponge. Half the time I don't even know if I'm hitting the thing. It's a shame, because L4D made you actively want to play zombies as well as humans. I highly doubt this will gain any traction as an e-sport.

Agreed. The game feels like NS2 in this sense. $20 or so wouldn't be bad at all for this.

The monster is automatically more tense, I can tell you that. I actually enjoyed playing as a human trapper. I felt like there was an element of skill. When we had an epic showdown, I got the mobile arena down (big bubble surrounding you and the monster, which doesn't allow anyone to escape). I then managed to kite the monster in such a way that he had a hard time hitting me, and I constantly threw down harpoon traps in different directions, which tethered the monster. I feel like fights, with a disciplined team, is more about maneouvering and using skills than it is to spam bullets. Assault is the guy who probably just sits and shoots, but all other players need to do other stuff and try to get a shot in every now and again.

Yeah, that was the game I'm sort of comparing it to in my mind, and that game still feels richer content-wise.

I feel like l4d was far superior to this in every way. I just don't understand why they thought this was a good idea(4v1)
playing as hunters is meh, didn't enjoy it as much as I enjoyed playing the monster. Probably because performance is shit(yes it's alpha) and as a hunter I can't hit a thing with big framerate drops.
anyway recorded my second game with the monster for lulz(first one was a tragedy lol)

just played a monster game, it really got my heart beating, got caught in a trap 2x first time I just hid and they thought i had escaped so they dropped it. 2nd time I fought a little then hid again and left when it dropped. Ended up going to core at lvl 3 and rekted em.
Monster controls like utter shit though, which is a shame.

Had a good few games of this today, really enjoying it so far. Feels a little faster than I expected it to, but it's fun nonetheless.

Played my second game as a monster and barely managed to pull through. Being a monster is soooo tense, jesus. The knowledge that 4 players are gunning for you is exhilarating. Even though I barely made it, I still think that the monster is fairly easy to play and perhaps a bit too strong. It should maybe require slightly more precision, as right now you can just smash wildly, spam your abilities half-decently and basically just kill everything.

yeah, monster is pretty much OP, I just unlocked kraken and he seems ... kinda weak compared to goliath, or I just suck at him.

First impressions:
I think I agree with most people that playing as a human can be a little boring. Just feels like you do 10 minutes of running around before you get to the more interesting bit. I guess this is sort of to be expected in a hunting game, but I think better level design could redress that imbalance, as currently there doesn't seem to be much of a sense of place about it. I've only played on Fusion (are there any other maps in the alpha?), but it just seemed like a bunch of generic sci-fi prefabs thrown in among a bunch of even more generic alien-jungle bits.
My first game was a washout due to performance issues, which were fixed easily enough by reducing graphics settings. I nearly abandoned the second game because I got desktopped (it happened the first time somebody threw down a big dome thingy, but that might be coincidence), but when I got back in my team were waiting near me so I figured I owed it to them to stick around. We had someone who had clearly played quite a bit and made a good leader, so that helped -- I could definitely see it becoming a lot more fun when more people know what's going on, but that initial learning curve can prove deadly to multiplayer games. Hopefully the devs intend to ship with a bot mode for practice.
All in all, I think this will probably be more popular on consoles if it takes off at all. And that's not just because it told me to hit A to start the game.
