That does seem a bit lame if true. I expected most planets to be lifeless and maybe only worth mining a bit of ore or something. And on the rare occasion you come across one with life it would be all that more special to find animals or plants. I also expected some planets might have had different levels of life, some with mostly ocean life and very little on land, others with lots of smaller life forms that seem like they are early in evolution and of course planets with much more developed life and huge animals. If there is life on every planet then every planet is just more of the same.
I've avoided all the youtube and live streams though so hopefully the universe is more barren and not a grindfest. But wouldn't surprise me if it is since I don't think I have played a single good game that has procedural generation. They all seem to focus on the crafting and repetitious activities to mask over the bland gameplay.
