McConaughey's career wasn't turned around by true detective. If anything what turned it around that year was Dallas Buyers Club.

I love that movie, here is my favourite scene:

Never heard of that one (not a big fan of wildlife documentaries). Plus I'm pretty sure that's the Dallas skyline in the background.

    lols.

I think Matthew's career turned before both those movies. In Wolf he just has an appearance; in the last years he took on several serious roles so I think it was that, then Dallas Buyer's is the culmination, you can't go higher then winning an Oscar (except winning the Cannes' Palm or Lion at Venice?).

I like Vaugn, one of those underrated actors. I think he can pull interesting performances.

I read a while ago that there could be two other leads alongside Farrell and Vaughn (back when those two were still unconfirmed rumours), and names like Taylor Kitsch and Rachel McAdams have been mentioned as the other two possibilities, interested to see if that's the case still

Vince Vaughn is the wild card in this cast. Amazing mustache on Colin Farrell. I'm sure it will be good in any case, those HBO production values.

I'm excited, obviously. Lately a lot of the shoes I've been watching feel very slow paced, Better Call Saul and House of Cards. Hopefully this one will be a little up tempo

How can it even be remotely as good as season 1?

Man this is suuuper interesting. I really love that they're going for narratives that last just one season and then moving on. Maybe we'll see some noir influence this time?

First episode was a pleasant surprise, it had a nice way to introduce all the main characters.

So anyone continued watching this? I saw the first episode and thought it was okay, but wonder if it's worth watching the rest?

I'm gonna watch the entirety of Season 2 solely based on Season 1. I owe 'em that. :D

Season 2 is definitely off to a shakier start but there's been a lot of really interesting moments thus far. I need to see where everything leads to before I can give my final judgement though.

Was okay, but very disappointing compared to season 1. I appreciate that they tried to do something very different with the 2nd season, and that just trying to replicate/continue season 1 wouldn't work, but it just felt like plain crime show with great production values, where as the 1st season felt like it really brought something new to the table and really set your mind racing in interesting directions. I also feel that in season 2 it was definitely strongest when they focused on the plot rather than the characters stories, especially because to me it feels like
