Haha I remember one of the guys at work had to go back through a load of old models and manually assign that tesselated material onto a few meshes just to please the AMD guys and fulfil our end of the contract.... But... Is there really any difference here at all? :S

I can tell the difference because I'm an asshole.

One of the most memorable sets in the film, and beautifully recreated in the game. The pods look great, and in the Torrens you can open and close the lids, which do so at the same speed as those in the film. Yes, I compared them. The major difference here, though, is the lighting. The shadows on the padded walls in the game are much harsher, which doesn't capture the clean, white feel of the film set. That aside, great work.

The art director told me to make them a bit more grungey! FML. Still 9/10, not bad... not bad.

Also.. I'm sorry guys but I failed on this one:

The instructions for the self destruct sequence are identical. Capturing this image from the film, I realised that you can actually see the paint marks on the red parts. Alien is very much a handmade film, and everything was constructed from scratch. Ripley’s finger, in both the film and the DLC, traces across the directions at the bottom, which is a nice reference. I could moan about the ‘SCUTTLE PROCEDURE’ text being aligned slightly too far left in the game, but I’m not going to. Even though I just did. Sorry.

Some guy remade the Nostromo self-destruct terminal. IRL.

Also the alarm sound heard during the self-destruct countdown is easily my favorite alarm sound. I remember it was used in ns_bast for Natural Selection.

So did the artists go crazy with those dipping birds?

I remember all the prototype levels had one per room.

Edit: Should have used them as save points.

I really want to like this game. I'm trying, it has two second flashes of brilliance every couple of minutes. Going to stick with it and see if it impresses me in the end.

I would say I've been more confused than scared so far. Player navigation is really poor for the most part, I spent twenty minutes walking around a place before realizing I had to click on a random folder. Thanks for telling me? Has happened at least three times so far.

It's nowhere near as scary as Amensia, but that's a good thing in my book, I had to stop playing that game on the first level

I'm keeping an open mind though, it really is a cool game in a lot of ways.

No I agree completely with the player navigation. I got stuck for 20 minutes right at the beginning of the game as I couldn't work out how to turn on the power. Even though I had turned on a power generator? Turned out I had to log into a console and turn it on?! I've missed lots of obvious things too because of how dark it gets. Still enjoying, though!

So the Crew expendable is not as good as I was expecting but the Last survivor is great ! The part after you activate the self destruct looks just SOOOO GOOOD but the voice overs feels old I mean you can say how much older the cast is. Anyways good stuff
