Gamestop gave it a 9, but the average I see around is a 7. Metacritic is currently sitting around 75, and I think a 75/80 is a fair score.

The game looks absolutely astonishing, extremely sharp to the point I feel disbelief this is running on my PS3, it honestly looks like a PS4/PC game.

I saw my wife play, she's loving it, but then again she also loved Heavy Rain, one of the rare games she finished, and she will also finish this one in a couple sittings, which is awesome, I like seeing her enjoying a AAA video game for once.

From what I've seen, writing is a little bit convoluted and weird and the pacing is a bit all over the place, which is what can be expected by the spiritual sequel to Heavy Rain. I mean, the plot is not bad, but it's the weird execution that leaves me a little bit sad, which is a shame considering the amount of great content in here. I really wish for the next game David Cage hires a Hollywood writer and/or director. Heavy Rain felt extremely b-movie like, this one is much better but it's not quite there yet.

As for gameplay, it's a bit sad the game sometimes floods you with options, and others you have no option whatsoever and the game forces to do things. Cohesiveness is not a thing this game does very well, I wish they hired someone who understands gameplay progression better.

THAT SAID, I wouldn't skip on this game if you have a PS3. Did i mention it looks absolutely unbelievable?!?!

Even with all the flaws, It's worth it getting full price, if anything you'd be supporting a different kind of game.

Still plan on getting it, as a mild distraction from GTA

It does suck that it seems to have even less consequence than Heavy Rain tho, making those games feel like you had even more ways of affecting the outcome seemed like the logical next step.

I watched "TheCreatures" play it on twitch.tv and I thought it was funny. But I wasn't playing (if that can be considered a game to be played). I was watching, and the guys were doing funny shit, so it made the experience to be enjoyable. But I think I wouldn't like if I was playing alone.

I'm fine with Cage trying something different and mixing up the movie/game-y-ness of it...but it still has to be fun/entertaining/intellectually-interesting to some degree which I take it that it is, it's just it seems like is messing with people's expectations.

Man, this game looks absolutely fucking gorgeous! It gets REALLY good in the last stages of the game, really sci-fi as well! I don't get all the hate.

but no one disliked heavy rain because it was trying something new. games try something new all the time and are usually received very well (flower, journey, gone home, paper's please etc.). granted, much of this development happens in the indie scene, but it's obviously welcome in the triple a scene as well.

People disliked heavy rain because it wasn't very well written and it didn't utilize interactivity in an interesting way. When you tell a story you should consider the medium you're using first. If you're making a movie but completely ignoring cinematography it's not going to be great.

the game doesn't need shooting or violence, it just needs better writing and most importantly interactivity that isn't just wasting our time.

I can't wait to see David Cage's first PS4 game because we know he will at the very least push the boundaries of what we can expect from digital tits and ass.
