I'm suprised it took two pages for someone to call us out for arguing about nutrition XD

    Quote from knj

Shieeet Dude, Fmpone are you really 100% on what you are saying here ? Cause if yes, than sorry but you have no idea about nutrition !

How, explain to me HOW one will add fat to your body and how the other will burn ? Maybe i'm missing smth

Not talking about vitamins/fiber and that stuff; this is deffinition of calorie (the one we are using in nutritions dieting)
The large calorie, kilogram calorie, dietary calorie, nutritionist's calorie, nutritional calorie, Calorie or food calorie (symbol: Cal) is approximately the amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of one kilogram of water by one degree Celsius

So ENERGY VISE 100calories from avocado and 100calories from snicers bar will do EXACTLY THE SAME TO YOU (again, energy vise).

Lets say someone will eat 3 000 kcalories eating only veggies like broccoli, salads, fruits like avocado ect, and other will eat exactly 3000 calories eating shit food/snickers bars ect, who will get more fat out of it ?
again I'm not talking about health/vitamins/fiber just pure energy consumption

Honestly dude pretty much everything you just said is wrong. The energy you get from different types of macronutrients could not be any more different. 3,000 calories of sugar could send you into a diabetic coma or some shit, 3,000 calories of beef would probably make you feel satisfied and put some stress on your organs. Completely different, yet the same amount of calories. Your argument makes no sense. If you really want to suggest than avocados and snickers do the same thing to you "energy wise" (what does that even mean btw? I guarantee you'll get more energy from an avocado, a snickers bar will probably raise your insulin levels etc, google what that will do to your "energy")

You need to realize that the way your body metabolizes different foods completely changes the impact of those calories on your body. Saturated fats, unsaturated fats, carbohydrates, nutrition is a lot more complicated than "omg all calories are the same because energy". The way you metabolize the food you eat will have a direct connection to the way your body fat is stored. The way your body fat is stored and/or burned will have a direct connection to your body weight.

I'm not trying to be a dick. Everyone comes to nutrition from a different place, nutrition is one of those things that's really important and fundamental and yet really hard to understand. But it's a legitimate science, it's never going to be a simple as you want to make it.

Dude, noone here is trying to be a dick, i think this is a good discussion, but if I'm wrong how come i can get down to 10-8% of BF earing literally what i want just keeping my protein/carbs/fats/fiber income ?

This is GYM threat so i get that most of us here are training, bodybuilding is one of those sports, where your "look" supports your knowledge, but I really dont want to make this GAY threat lol

Probably because you're putting enormous stress on your body working out. Your body is using those foods as fuel. Plus I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest you're probably a young guy and happen to have a decent natural metabolism. The rules change a little bit for atheletes, they need carbs, the thing is, I still don't recommend eating shitty carbs ever. Watch what happens if you stop working out and keep eating the way you are now, the science will be proven to you the hard way

There are plenty of bodybuilders who ate nothing but Mcdonalds during their prime, and only regretted it later in life when all the nutritional damage they did caught up with them. That is to say, they still were in amazing shape, still were able to lift more and more weight in the gym, but over time they were doing damage to the cells and organs of their body, more than they would have if they ate clean. That (plus steroids ) = a recipe for heart and other organ failures down the line. The body is fucking amazing. Usain Bolt eats McDonalds a lot. But one day, if he doesn't get that shit in order, he will pay a price for eating whatever he wanted.

This is why it's not a good idea to look at things from a "calorie" standpoint. Your body is a machine, it runs on what it is given. If you put crap into the machine, you will have a bad machine soon. Certain types of food are really damaging and will break the machine, but calories don't tell you anything about that. Calories don't say anything about food quality, all they do is tell you how much caloric potential is contained in the object.

Ok to stop taking the piss I probably have something to contribute to the thread.

I've just started getting back in to the gym again in an effort to lose weight. I've also cut everything crappy out of my diet such as fizzy drinks, which I used to drink a lot of. And replace tea with water, of which I drank 3 or 4 mugs a day with 2 sugars.

One of the biggest achievements I think I've made is to cut out junk food and snacking during work hours, this is very tough as there's a birthday in the office almost everyday and with that comes free donuts, cookies, cakes etc.

The weights I'm doing right now are tiny I didn't realise just how weak my muscles ahd got, so I'm having to build that back up slowly, concentrating on form over weight. I actually laughed at some guy doing dumbbell curls with ridiculously heavy weights the other day with really bad form, he's going to have some back problems.

I'm also doing interval cardio on the treadmill - trying to build up some fitness but concentrating more on weight loss.

I've lost over half a stone from just over 13 stone and gone down a jean size since starting. My goal is around 11 and a half stone but I'd be happy under 12. I think the diet during work hours has made the biggest impact, it's so hard to keep the will power but it'll pay off.

There's one trick that really works well with me. I just eat normally but really slowly. I masticate every fucking little bit of food until it's like a paste. Down the road it's a lot easier for ya body to digest it. The saliva in your mouth helps to digest sugars and fat... stuff like that. The next thing is that the minute I feel like I'm not hungry anymore I just stop eating. At that moment I know that my body is telling me "okay... dude I'm replenished don't need more". If you eat faster you'll just miss this message and probably eat over what you really need. I started loosing weight doing almost nothing because of that.

Haha I had to google "stone as weight system". That's some antiquity stuff right there. Measuring system prohibited in 1985.

Hey Jord, you can still enjoy tea (like I do, I drink fuck tones) just replace the sugar with a substitute like splenda or stevia. I cut sugar out of my diet a long time ago and the weight dropped off. Just make sure to learn to read the back of packaging when food shopping, sugar is fucking EVERYWHERE and sometimes you just can't avoid it. For example: I bought some nice Pomegranate juice, you'd think that's nice and safe, right? WRONG. Fucker has sugar listed in it's ingredients. I wasn't too impressed and that's what I get for not looking close enough. But on the up side, I don't have any sugar in my diet so it's safe to let a bit like that in.

Just as dux said, it is impossible to cut suger to complete zero

Oh yeh I'm still allowing myself some treats, not completely cutting everything out, I think that would be almost impossible, it's more a case of greatly cutting down. My sugar intake before was pretty crazy now I look back at it, I'm eating more fruit too so that helps with the sugar. I'm actually not missing tea as much as I thought I would be, I feel much better drinking water and more awake generally I think.

I find that after a while of forcing yourself not to pick up every donut and cookie available you actually don't really miss it, it gets much easier.

There may be a difference between sparkling/non-sparkling water, but unless your tap water is inherently nasty it's fine to drink that. No sense wasting extra $ on bottled stuff.

I was really depressed that I spent all these weeks working my ass off and I only lost 4,6 kilo that I went on a 4 day rampage and gained 2 kilo. Now, I'm a very sad little boy that drowns in self pity and who can only find comfort in even more food.

Time to man the fuck up and go back to the drawing board.
