What happens if you take 20 kg of muscles, then say ok i'm done, i'm going back to beer, couch and videogames ? ![]()
Going to the gym is like a korean MMORPG

You slowly lose it under the fat from the couch and beer.
And 20kg of muscle is A LOT.

The 5km relay race was yesterday and it went pretty good!
My time was 23:28. We had 3 DICE teams of 5 people each and of all of them 2 people ran slower than me so I've nothing to be embarrassed about
(Fastest was 18:44 and slowest 26:02) Pretty happy with how much progress I was able to make considering I only started 3 weeks ago. I think I'm gonna keep up this routine and mix it back with lifting weights. -
I did six minutes of speed stepping and weighted steps yesterday and nearly passed out in front of all the incredibly fit hot women around me, lol.

I expected this thread to pick up seeing as it's a new year and everyone is listing "getting in shape" as their goals

-
Oh like this you mean:
Haven't worked out for 2 weeks cos of holidays. Today I ran again, it was horrible and I felt like dying. I also ran much slower than usual.
I picked up weights as usual but noticed I had lost strenght and ended up dropping the weights on my foot.
Please kill me.
At least that's how I'm expecting it to go
I guess that's why nobody's posting xD -
That's my expectation as well. Going back tomorrow.
-
I already did the workout thing, so 2012, now its all about getting lazier.
-
I was straight back to lifting on the 1st. My waist is down to 28.8 inches, aw yis.
-
yepp, already on my 5th or 6th training after new years. there's a little bit more pain getting back into it, but its not halfway as bad as I expected. I'm also doing a lot of the offered classes in the gym now - bit weird doing zumba with 30 women but it helps with additional cardio

-
It helps if you stay at the back of the class too if it's 30 women. You know, for science.
-
I did my first gym training this year, and wasn't that bad

-
Started with creatine after new years, doing slow build up (2 weeks). Not really expecting huge improvements, but let's see. got my fourth training tomorrow, none of them have been really bad so far. Granted I have been sleepy at times (I worked out the day after NYE) but I had expected worse.
-
What kind of creatine are you taking? How much and when, etc?
-
my personal tip, creatine monohydrate anything is good, creatine is creatine and take it:
10g - training day
5g - non training day -
I do pure creatine monohydrate, 10g/day for build up. I've been known to take 10g extra on training days, but then I remove a day from the buildup (once I get into maintenance I'll follow your advice).

i drink raw sewage! we all swam in raw sewage!

Not necessarily gym-related, but I've been using an app for the past 11 days called Fitocracy Macros and it's seriously transformed how I eat.

I've used calorie counting apps before but never really had much success with them. The key here is you can't actually enter calories, you have to enter grams of proteins, carbs, and fats. Also, you have to actually find the amounts yourself (i.e. through the web or on the packets). It's almost like a game finding the right food to hit the targets while not exceeding the limits, lol. So for the first time in my entire life I've been properly thinking about how much nutrition is in everything.
I didn't even realise how many carbs were hidden away in things like Coke, coffee, tea, etc. Also I find I can eat so much more meat compared to the pasta, bread, etc I usually eat and be a lot more full. Of course I still consume carbs, but I practically hit the limit the app recommends for my weight and workout frequency just from drinks alone. It's nice to have something telling me how much of each component I should eat rather than just guessing it.
I've lost just over seven pounds in the past 11 days, but I think that will (and should) slow down now the 'beginner's bonus' is over from water retention, etc. The main thing is this has given me a much better understanding of how to eat better and I'm genuinely more energised and full all day from doing this.
Combined with doing weights (it increases my nutrition on workout days) I'm hoping I will end up looking much better in 3–6 months. Which will be useful considering that I'm recently single, LOL.
