So I am about half way through, for anyone not sure about this:

    Combat

    • Batman style combat, there's a nice progression as you unlock new abilities that allow you to combat tougher enemies, similar to batman gadgets in combat except there is fewer of them and therefore less bloat/unnecessary things
    • There's a bunch of extra things on top, the shotgun, shivs, explosive tipped spears, gas cans you can light and then throw or throw and then shoot, barrels you can target, fire traps, bear traps, environmental executions. Basically because you can kill guys they have an extra layers on the combat.
    • You can use your car in open areas to combat on foot guys, using your grappling hook to wipe people out etc.

    Vehicles

    • Feels quite like burnout paradise, the driving, the boosting, the ramming. Combat in vehicles is fun.
    • Attacking bases requires you to use your vehicle to take down towers with your collection of weapons.
    • There's a scattering of defenses and objects around the world that also require destroying.
    • The different upgrades for your vehicle allow for quite a lot of customization with your components, I don't really care about visual customization but there is lots of that too.

    World

    • The world is fucking awesome, has so many great unique locations. Each base I have attacked has felt like a new location not a reuse of the same thing. The terrain has a good amount of variation and changes over appropriate distances to feel like a real world location.
    • Plenty of combat encounters through the world, not too many to ruin the feeling of it being a wasteland but enough to keep you busy.
    • My only major complaint is it suffers from ubisoft collectible design, there are far too many generic scrap locations. There are some that are really cool and interesting, it feels like they should have been the only scrap locations and just had their scrap amounts boosted. Too many random tent huts and ship wrecks. They just aren't interesting enough to be POIs.

    Story

    • Been enjoying the pacing, it takes you from point to point, allows new interesting locations every hour or so.
    • The actual story itself isn't particularly gripping but the game is about surviving and building up your car in a wasteland so it doens't need a particularly riveting story to work/

Do agree with most you said. The Batman style was very welcome for me, I'm a fan of that. The unlocking of new moves brings me back to Arkham Asylum (in the next ones you only unlock gadgets if I remember correctly).

My main complaint is about the driving, it is better now that the car has been upgraded (I think halfway through), but still makes me cringe the fact that instead of turning the car clearly pivots on a center of gravity that is way too central on the car. Also there's no drifting, not even at high speed on the beaten roads. Handbrake doesn't really allow you for u-turns and when turning sharply, the camera doesn't follow very well imo.
Past that, I really really enjoy ramming and battling, disassembling parts with the harpoon etc.

Can agree on the collectible design, I haven't felt much bored as every location is always nice to explore; mainly I wanted to object that Just Cause 2 had shitloads of collectibles, all those cargo boxes and relicts...

In terms of story in the last session thursday night I was a bit baffled as I got to Pink Eye's stronghold and the cutscene shows a girl that was prisoner in another stronghold, no explanation how she got there as I haven't finished the missions from that friendly base, so I was just thinking that maybe narration and mission design is not perfectly designed. Actually I think I got to Pink Eye because the same girl sent me toward the Jaw gate, so how she got past is beyond me.
I quite like though being able to explore so much without the need of necessarily unlocking an area.

PS: tried to log in WB play and the form are bugged as hell preventing to log in! As I'm typing the password the form still looks for commands, so when I pressed "R", which is contained in my pwd, got a prompt for resetting the password, without means of cancelling the operation! Whattahell is that?!?!?!

What? I played 31 hours until now and I don't think I'm so close to finishing it. The next story mission points to Gastown but I would be baffled if it was the last one. Doesn't feel like anything happened other than grinding to collect car parts.

I decided only couple days ago to finally go to Gastown and tackled the story mission there... still way to go, I have to unlock the whole V8 engine tree.

If there is one downside for this game, I think it's the narrative that should have been directed a bit more. I'm 64h in and like 68% completion?

Forgot to say, completed the story two nights ago. The ending... *sniff*

Great game, pity the few bugs here and there, for instance on the map I still have a couple icons of loot that has been cleared (project parts icons when I've built everything) and I wonder if all the loots still indicated are missing or not, or if I'll search for hours for nothing.

Can really recommend the game, suggest to follow the story and not focus on clearing the Wasteland so much... it's a real shame upgrading the Magnum Opus to it's full only when there are a couple camps you still have to clear.

    Anyone playing recently?

I launched it today and was having horrible performances, after I managed to play thorugh the complete game at solid 60fps, now it's at 35 at best, performing even worse when indoors!

@mr.P do you by any chance know if there have been problems with the latest patch? Has the game been forced to a lower fps? Or with problems with drivers? (I remember that like a week ago nVidia screen came up and installed updates)

Thank you very much for taking the time to look at this and sSorry for not getting back... but it's been one of the worst weeks ever.

My nVidia panel says my drivers are up to date v.358.91... although as soon as I powered on the computer there was a notification of new drivers and i read v.359 :?

If the problem doesn't go away is there a preferred way I should report this to Avalanche?

checked around, does not seem to be any updates that might have caused this, can't remember what drivers I run, but I'll try the version you are running next time I get the chance,
