All I see is a developer continuing what they set out with from the start. You're pretty much wrong if you think every developer isn't basically trying to do the exact same thing. Everyone is looking for something they can iterate on for at least a decade or so, the difference is most developers don't find that. IW/Respawn did.
Every popular MP game was basically made 15-20 years ago. I could see the retread criticisms if it wasn't for the fact that there's very few examples of this not being the case. Didn't seem to bother anyone that TF2 was pretty much exactly TFC at its core (which in turn was QF). Of course, it didn't look like TFC, so most weren't bothered. Or were shits and hadn't played the predecessors.
Point is if you're mad about Titanfall not sure how you're cool with the current state of multiplayer in general. They're all old ass games with modifications from iterating overtime. That's pretty much how it's done.
