Looks good, looks smooth and all that. It just lacks any depth from what I've seen. Good game for a 15 minute tea break is what I'm expecting.

Based on the comments, Titanfall 2 will be awesome!!

Is there anything more to the game than running around and shooting at other players non-stop?

(this is a genuine question by the way, I haven't kept up with the game and so far all I've seen doesn't seem too interesting gameplay wise)

There are two objective-based gameplay modes in the beta (the video above shows what is essentially the standard TDM) but I haven't tried them so far so I can't speak to that extent. I would assume there are more game modes coming with the full game?

Similar to how CSGO is just a rehash of 1.6?

What? Your analogy makes no sense at all. COD+Mechs is pejorative because anyone with about ten brain cells is bored of COD by now. And the mechs appear to be totally superflous boring gimmicks!

it's not very encouraging that the guy passes up 3 opportunities to get in his titan, is it?

You'll also find it ridiculously disappointing when they sell millions in the first weeks

Actually, I think this game won't do all that well. I think it should be a success, but it won't do COD numbers because at this point COD is really like Madden or some other "bro title", 24-40 year old men just buy it do be part of the hip fad. I'd say long odds Titanfall becomes the next COD because it's sort of an uncomfortable mix of COD's ridiculously generic gameplay + mechs. Maybe I'm misjudging the public, but I think they'll stick with COD #9000000000000000000000000

I don't have any COD fatigue because i've only played its MP in COD2 and MW a few times, in LAN, so this is something i can see myself playing.

The annoying thing for me is not that it plays like COD, is that it has the same on-screen-mega banners of progression, the same dumb labels on top of player's heads to tell you who to shoot, the same deathcam with even the same UI element to point yourself out

Oh, and weapons that don't look sci-fi but are instead current weaponry with absurd ironsights and attachments to make them look a little different.

And what the hell is that label that tells you what weapon you have switched to, like if you are constantly in a tutorial?

Fair enough but excuse me for jumping on anyone who really attempts to justify this game's existence because at this point I regard it with pretty straightforward disgust

Yes. As an already risky startup, they should've avoided doing the kind of game they enjoy and are skilled at to do something risky.

yo dawg i heard you wanna go in the deep end while you're in the deep end, so you can be in the deep end while you're in the deep end

So I should applaud them for setting the bar low? They did COD+Mechs and apparently there is an audience for that. Cool, I don't respect that artistic decision at all.

Man that's a bit harsh. It's definitely good fun. I was not sold on the videos but I'm enjoying it in-game.

I'm glad you're enjoying it. I don't think I would at all, and judging by the fact that its an Origin/XBONE exclusive, I'm not sure how I would ever get a chance to test that theory. Very little positive to say about it! So I'll let you guys discuss it without my bias

I find it ridiculously disappointing that Respawn formed as an entirely new studio with the ability to make any game they wanted, and they chose to make Call of Duty + Giant Mechs. That's boring.

Jesus dude... If you have constructive critics for any of the gameplay mechanics or level design by all means post it here, or.. if you don't like it, don't play it. I'm not sure if I like that attitude towards a game, and I mean ANY game.

There's nothing wrong on building on other titles / sub-genres successes, specially being that these guys pretty much made CoD what it is. I don't see anyone going like "ohhh Nintendo is making another Mario game, DISGUSTING"

That last movie makes me feel much better. I was pretty bumped about it being Origin only (which means I wouldn't get it). But, with all respect to it's creators, this was totally not what I was expecting. I got bored a couple of minutes in and turned it off which has nothing to do with COD fatigue or anything else. It sounded cool on paper, it looked cool in trailers but the gameplay in that trailer looks really dull to me.

If I can refer to the ten minute video I posted, much of what is going on doesn't involve the marquee sort of namesake of the game, the Titans. The action ongoing is not figuratively indistinguishable from Call of Duty, it is literally indistinguishable. A gun with barely any recoil gunning down endless clones of enemies and receiving "perks" and little positive reinforcements from a very repetitive lady in the top right hand corner of your screen.Again, so many people wanted to yell at Flappy Bird guy for making a derivative game, unlike these ladies and gentlemen, he didn't have millions of dollars at his disposal before making a derivative title. That's fine, they have a right do that. But I've used one word in reference to this game a lot, and that's boring. If you have millions of dollars and you bore me, shame on you. The only caveat I will provide for my entire argument is that, because these developers have signed annoying exclusivity agreements with what I consider two totally inferior content distribution platforms, I won't be able to even verify from the game footage I've seen without signing up for Origin, that this game won't induce me to snoring after my tenth kill. Again negativity towards the people making the games themselves I agree is a bad thing, but I have no issue with people disliking a game or making commentary that they feel it's pretty crassly derivative and just plain boring, as far I'm concerned that's fair game.

And as you mentioned level design, obviously it's difficult to critique the level design from my standpoint, other than to say that graphically this game isn't visually as impressive as, say, Evolve.

I totally recognize that most people are psyched about this game. I want to check back in 1 month and see if any of you are still playing it. I strongly doubt it. But now I want to make a PERSONAL LIFE MISSION of mine, to play the game and tell you if I still feel that way. Because I don't hate the people making the game, at all. I just feel that there is a duty in art to do new and exciting things and this doesn't float my boat personally. In fact, I'm irked by it.

I think it looks like it'll be a lot of fun with enough small additions to mix up the COD formula and make it feel somewhat fresh (something the COD studios are completely incapable of doing these days it seems), but not an absolutely mind boggling revolution of the first person shooter, which I guess some people might've expected considering how much these guys mixed up things in the past. I don't blame them for taking what seems like the more safe route, though it would've definitely have been interesting to see them go way out of their comfort zone and do something radically different.

Also, more than ever, this game will either be a huge success or flop hard. The studio has a huge following, the controversy around it brought them lots of publicity. They say there's no such thing as bad publicity. This can all work to their advantage. On the other hand, EA has been getting a lot of criticism lately. This could put a lot of people off, like me for instance. I'm not sure the Origin and Xbox exclusive deal will work in their advantage either.

to me, it's like you're complaining that Dota is boring because of its rts elements. You're missing half of the game here. The fun part of the game, to me at least, looks like the whole idea of denying others titans and all of that kind of stuff. The gun handling seems like it's put in as a medium to make a much deeper game. I bet once you get into stuff like control points and such, the game gets real intense/fun when dealing with Titans.

I intend to. Again, I'm in an uncomfortable spot with Origin, but I intend to. ANYWAYS I totally get that there will be a perception I was being unfair toward this game in this thread. Let me assure you, there are thousands of others who feel exactly the way I do! Much love.

It could be worse bro, Origin could be an Xbox One...
