eject is how I end up turning it on a lot. It was the worst thing for Minnesota winters. You had to discharge static electricity otherwise it would give a nice shock.

    Another U-turn

    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-…nect-plugged-in

    Quote

For a long time Microsoft insisted that its creepy HAL-like motion sensing camera Kinectwould have to be on for the Xbox One to function, but in Microsoft's rapid plea to make players happy it's now announced that you'll be able to play Xbox One not only with the sensor off, but not even plugged in.

Xbox One chief product officer Marc Whitten revealed this new option in an interview withIGN. "Like online, the console will still function if Kinect isn't plugged in, although you won't be able to use any feature or experience that explicitly uses the sensor," he said.

"We have more flexibility with the architecture of the Xbox One, is that we can dial back the power of the box considerably. [...]

Xbox One can actually dial it back to a lower power state, so low in fact that it can [be] in a mode that uses virtually no air flow."

    [...]

del Castillo says the Xbox One will notify the user of impending problems with some type of notification.

    Xbox One self-publishing plans revealed

    http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2013-…ishing-strategy

Full access to Xbox One services; no fees for game updates; MS will set price for titles

All developers accepted for the scheme will receive two Xbox One development kits free of charge, as well as access to the full range of services on offer to games development teams - cloud services, Kinect and the Xbox One toolset, which includes Smartglass, multiplayer, Achievements and Gamerscores.

In order to help with the discoverability issues that trouble all self-publishing stores, Microsoft is promising that all games will feature in the regular Xbox One store and be supported by voice search.

On top of that the store will also feature trending games reflecting what the community and friends are playing, recommendations based on a consumer's playing habits, spotlighted games and the ability for developers to set community challenges, as well as support the Xbox One's Game DVR and Upload services.

Set during Albion's age of heroes, 400 years before the events of the first Fable, it casts you as one of a number of different heroes - and your friends as three more.

It's designed for four-player co-op. Each hero has different skills: on-stage, Lionhead showed a Prince Charming-alike who's nimble with a sword, an archer whom you play from a third-person-shooter viewpoint, a female barbarian sort with a Yorkshire accent, a magic user whose spells slow enemies to a standstill. Here's the kicker, though: there's another player, who controls the villain, viewing the map from a top-down perspective and placing enemies, traps, ambushes and more for the four heroes to overcome.

    Yay, more Fable...

If they can put together a truly great successor to Fable 2 I'll be overjoyed, but everything since that game (including Fable 3) really hasn't appealed to me. It feels like they're really bleeding the IP dry, like Lionhead has forgot it could once make other games too.

It does look gorgeous, of course.

I don't think it's part of the main series, it's another spin-off title based around five player multi-player with four adventurers and a dungeon master "villain".

Having to rely on batteries to play a videogame is a huge turn off for me. It's ridiculous how many times I wanted to play something but couldn't because:

    - The batteries were dead.

    - Somebody thought it was a good idea to take the batteries off from my controller and use it somewhere else.

    - The rechargeable batteries were not completely charged yet.

    etc.

    Some people/ companies never learn.......
