Can you name your xbox? Or reprogram voice commands?
I don't want to say "xbox" cos that might come up when someone is sitting next to you (or the problem stated in the article above). I'd rather use something like...
VCR - play game.
Or something ![]()

QuoteMicrosoft has filed for a Kinect-related patent, and it’s a doozy of an application. The abstract describes a camera-based system that would monitor the number of viewers in a room and check to see if the number of occupants exceeded a certain threshold set by the content provider. If there are too many warm bodies present, the device owner would be prompted to purchase a license for a greater number of viewers.
Now, it's just a patent (for now), but that is some seriously messed up shit.
Oh man, you can see it coming already. To watch a film you must both be connected to the internet and have your Kinect detecting at least one person (so it knows you're not tricking it), and if it detects too many people it assumes you're broadcasting publicly and cuts you off. Disgusting. ![]()
Quote from blackdogDisplay MoreI find this: Sony's PS4 event helps... Nintendo?
And searching this i see a number of titles criticizing the console/event about lack of functions or details.
I'm not into that kind of things, but I think stock market isn't informative in any way: they are just a bunch of people out to speculate at any occasion they get.
Curious, if i was living in the US (or UK) i'd be quite happy, i mean, yes it's a gaming console, but to also have the TV functions in it, without having to buy and shelf another box is pretty neat. (If all that works on-demand - personally i don't even have a tv and don't watch it since many years.)
For how much we post in the dedicated topic, we all watch a lot of movies and tv-shows...
If nothing else, the different strategy between the two giants is more apparent so it should be easier to choose

Organising a fighting game tournament with Xbox One’s is going to be fun.
Seems like a disaster. Hindenburg status baby!

Well, you might be kidding, but they could actually do that. I also find it very scary that the Kinect is ALWAYS listening to you, and everyone else in the house. Cos it never really shutts off, only a stand by state cos you can shout "Xbox on" to turn it on.
may this be the new toy to make you even more touched by invigilation?
Quote from 0kelvinNot that many technical specs, but... What is that 3 OS running in the background, each one reserving 1GB for its own service? In PC you either have one OS or multiboot, there is no such thing as running two OS at the same time. For ex: in windows there are dozens of services, many of which can be deactivated. Now, what is that triple OS thing?
It's all virtualised. See here.
I guess we can all agree this is going to be the biggest fail in the games industry history and move on? I'm definitely not going to buy this piece of shit.
we have always

I remember they already patented the tech for detecting multiple people with the kinects as setting a limit for viewing a movie.

I imagine coating the sensor in lead would remove at least the sensor problem. A little wit goes a long way.
Obviously this does not take into account that it is a breach of the privacy of one's own home, but I guess people buying the next xbox will bring it on themselves.
This, seriously nailed it - knee jerk reactions are very immature and no industry does it more than games haha, not gonna deny the comedy gold in the event but still ![]()
I've red this Q&A with Vice President, Kinect is not required to view movies. Plus several infos on used game stuff.

Two articles, posted literally at the same time, saying opposite things. What can I say (I haven't said already)? ![]()
