    If you play this with a keyboard and mouse, you're an idiot.

    Played this for a couple of hours last night. The first area is pretty boring and ugly, but it looks incredible when you first come out into the town! Those fuckin Hippo-cyclops things are deadly..

    How come? I don't think playing a third person whacky hacky is so bad for mouse n keyboard?

    You do not play this game with keyboard and mouse if you don't want to get schooled.

    Dark souls is all about being in precise control of your character, and being able to deftly move around to avoid being hit (more so if you're an agile character), which makes the use of a thumbstick pretty essential. You have complete 360 degree movement, whereas with WASD or the arrow keys, you're limited to ~8 directions. Also you spend a lot of time moving the camera about wit the other thumbstick, that would be a bit trickier on PC.

    Also the way the combat works means that all of your combat controls are on the trigger buttons; left triggers match your left hand (usually) and vice versa. Makes it very easy to visualise what's gonna happen when your character attacks etc. RB is a light attack, RT is a heavier attack.

    Saying that, I haven't tried Dark Souls 1 or 2 on a keyboard, so I don't have anything to compare it to.

    Fair enough! Is the camera independent then and not an additional control of your characters movement? The mouse tends to make up for the wasd keys limited direction.

    Camera is independent to character direction. I tried K+M on Dark souls 1 it was horrible, controller is far better.

    Been playing this a fair bit last night/tonight. Gotta say, I'm pretty disappointed in Dark Souls 2 in comparison to the first.

    The combat feels.. Weird. There seems to be a lot of stopping and starting with the combat in 2, it just seems like if you get hit you're stunned for ages, whereas it was a bit more forgiving in Dark Souls 1. Also, the graphics and level design are a serious downgrade. I don't know what happened exactly, maybe they took on a few temps or something, but fuckin hell some parts just look terrible.

    Overall, disappointed in the sequel. Admittedly I'm not too far through, I just beat the Last Giant, and have fallen off some planks shortly afterwards about 4/5 times now, so I've given up for the night.

    Also, why the hell do you have to go back to that bitch in Majualualuala to level up? Why change that from DS1? There is no advantage to going back to Mariujuananauaville, it's not like there's loads of people there that constantly have new things to say. You just go back, that woman moans about souls or some crap, and then you can level up. Why not just let me do that at any bonfire? I lost about 5000 souls right at the beginning of the game because I was waiting for the bonfires to start letting me upgrade, so I was just running on when I could have gone and spoke to that lovely lady in Mawujlwnmauanun.

    This is pretty much what I was saying earlier in the thread. Definitely not as good as DS1, just larger.

    Dux, pretty much agree with everything that guy says.

    If you caught it for the first game, there is collision data ripped from DS2 so you can kind of view the environment;

    If you like the 2, take the 1. It's a bot more difficult but the LD is wonderfull, you can choose different paths to reach your goal more easily than the 2 and see the different levels from different point of view.

    Demon souls is really difficult, couldn't finish it ^^. It's also a lot shorter and very linear but have some really cool levels.

    DS1 is 10x better than DS2, Peri. Definitely pick it up!
