Damn, snapmap looks so awesome! I wonder if it will be available on consoles too?

So happy it's getting released too, hopefully it will inspire more people to become designers/artists :)

Yeah, it is. In the full stream you see him doing all of it with the controller. I see a Mapcore SnapMap Jam coming up.

I assume we are able to create new assets and import them to be used in snap map?

I read that you can't add custom content into snapmap since that would require downloading a lot of stuff and that's a big no for consoles(I assume you can share maps crossplatform) sadly I can't find the source of that statement.

but maybe there's a way to hack your custom stuff into the game.

    also this:

and I really don't feel like touching IdStudio.

But on a serious note @dux. I've been following this very closely. They haven't announced a full editor for pc (yet). This one works on all platforms and is fully based on prefabs. That way there's never a big file to download and you can share and play it immediately. That all sounded very limiting but I'm actually surprised in what's possible. It's way more capable than I imagined. Still hoping for a full SDK for pc though.

Now the good part. Game logic! You can change everything rather quickly. You didn't like loadouts? Remove it. You didn't like Demon Runes? Remove it. You want it to be about map control? Add weapons to the map. It plays too slow? Crank up the speed. Lots of the critique I have is fixable in SnapMap.

Yes is impressive what you can do, but still… why not make available content that is in single player? Not talking about rooms, but would be enough you know, decoration stuff.

Also they could support a "marketplace" we're PC fans can submit custom content that gets approved and pushed as "community update", I think is a missed opportunity. Unless they are planning on expanding the templates in the future with DLCs…

Edit: see? Bethesda allows custom content to be pushed to consoles, so one could hope... :)

Haha come on guys, you're making it sound like Doom 1 was good for modding! Hahahahah don't be so daft...

    Oh wait. Shit.

No idea why they haven't made a bigger thing of a level editor for this. Who gives a shit about snap map? It's just re-arranging preset bits of corridor, that's boring. I miss the old days.

If you watch the video posted above you will see that you can actually create game modes and shit ;) Sure it's pretty simplified but that sounds perfect for this generation imo. Hopefully that will get their lazy asses to try game dev and move on to using grownup editors :P

Yeah I know dude, I watched the vid last night. It's just a shame that you can't do more with it from a level design standpoint. It looks pretty powerful from a logic/scripting standpoint, but I just wish you had more control over the environments.

    I'm just being grumpy :)

Snapmap looks alot more impressive than I originally thought. I thought it would be more of a portal 2 puzzle creator type of thing, I didn't realize you could make entire game modes. Hopefully they continue to release new model kits as people continue to play the game.

I dunno until proven otherwise this just reminds me of Halo Forge, a console map editor pretty much. Actually the entire game just reminds me way too much of Halo in general...

Is there any PC SP gameplay footage out there? I just watched a console based video on Youtube, and while it actually looked kinda alright (a lot better than the multiplayer beta felt, imo), the restrictions of the controller, and how the "swarming" demons had to take it easy on the player, was super obvious. Seemed like in order for that to be fun on PC they'd have to completely change AI behavior.
